A committee made up of senators will vote to begin a debate on the government's policies today, if approved the government will face questions on its digital wallet scheme and the prison systems role in enforcing court orders among many other key policies.

The prime minister and his cabinet would be asked to provide  policy updates prior to the debate which would likely be held within the next 2 months.

Political activist Srisuwan Janya, a critic  of the 10,000-baht digital wallet scheme, said the government may face a lawsuit if it tries to pass a bill to fund the scheme through  a 560-billion-baht loan.

Meanwhile the Prime minister said the government would take at least two days before announcing its next moves.

The minister of transport visited Chiang Mai to discuss plans to improve the public transport system in the northern region.

Road development, train and bus services are seen as key to improving the economy.
