GammaGlobulin
OK...This is a very simple topic which might generate many differing opinions. I am trying to figure out what is the best method and best product to keep my toilet bowl sparkling. Obviously, this is a Topic that many of us do not find very inviting or pleasurable to contemplate. Still, if we are to live happily in our abodes, then there is nothing more important than the maintaining of extremely clean, mold free, etc., toilet bowls. What is your best advice? What do you use to easily keep your toilet bowl inviting? In other words, just think of keeping your toilet bowl in a state which you would not be embarrassed to have your guests see. Obviously, some kind of brush is important. And then, what about some sort of cleaning product, some chemical solution that can provide a good solution to this nasty problem? I will be going to the store, next week, and I want to buy the right products to do the best job possible. No need to write more. This is such a simple but important question. Please provide your best solutions (without any toilet humor, preferably) which might be beneficial to all on this TV forum. Thank you and regards, Gamma Please Note: If I have this Topic in the wrong sub-forum...please move... I was looking for some kind of TV Housekeeping Subforum...but, unable to find.... Thank you..... flyingtlger
There's a white powder I buy at Tops. It's just like Ajax or Comet. Look for it in the bathroom cleaning area... Edited January 16 by flyingtlger

soi3eddie
A toilet brush and 2 products are all you need. Vixol Smart (almost like acid) and Promax bleach. Look at the shine in the bowl. No turds! Edited January 16 by soi3eddie

Look at the shine in the bowl. No turds! Looks OK. And, as you correctly state....I need something with PLENTY of something like acid.... Sometimes I use bleach, but....bleach is expensive. I need something both cheap and effective. Also...what about the powder that was suggested earlier by a commenter in this Topic? Might a powder be better than a liquid? That "Duck" product just does not work well for me....HONESTLY....
Jingthing
It doesn't need to be inviting. I'm not making a soup in there. Just not horribly gross. My answer -- cleaning lady.

GammaGlobulin
Also, anytime I consider the cleansing of the toilet, I am inevitably reminded of this famous Full Metal Jacket toilet cleaning scene: "I want to slip my tubesteak into your sister" scene: I don't need a cleaning lady as much as I need the marines to clean my bathrooms and toilets, maybe.... Absolutely...SPOTLESS....

Woof999
Sandpaper. Medium grit. Didn't believe it when I was first told, but it works wonders and does not damage the bog if rubbed lightly. Once clean, make sure your water isn't too hard and clean 2 or 3 times a week and it will stay clean.

Correction, you can’t see the micro scratches it is leaving but they are there, for proof just try it in a window.

worgeordie
How old are you Gamma ? , and you don't know how to clean a toilet ! Cleaning with Vixol is going to kill the bacteria in the cesspit, so your waste will not be broken down by the bacteria . just give the bowl a good scrubbing with a brush it's not rocket science . regards worgeordie
ChipButty
Use white vinegar, baking soda, and Coke to remove tough stains. To dissolve mineral buildup, rust, and grime, combine the power of Coke, vinegar, and baking soda. Just mix ½ cup (118 ml) of vinegar and ¼ cup (68 g) of baking soda into a ½ gallon (2 l) jug of water. Pour it into the bowl, scrub the stains, then wait 1 hour before flushing. Then, follow it up with the Coke treatment.[6] Vinegar is also a great disinfectant that cleans away bacteria. Or, mix 2 parts borax, 1 part lemon juice, and 1 part Coke. Pour the mix inside the toilet bowl, let it sit for 1 hour, then scrub the stains.

Popular Post VocalNeal
Put both lids of the toilet up and add 1/8 cup of pet shampoo to the water in the bowl. Pick up the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom. In one smooth movement put the cat in the toilet and close the lid. You may need to stand on the lid. At this point the cat will self-agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from the toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this! Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a 'Power Wash' and 'Rinse'. Have someone open the front door of your home. Be sure that there are no people between the toilet and the front door. Stand well back, behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift the lid. The cat will rocket out of the lid, streak through the bathroom, and run outside where he will dry himself off. The toilet will be sparkling clean. Yours Sincerely, The Dog 1

I definitely do use BLEACH. However, as Mr. W. also stated, one does NOT want to kill off the bacteria in the sceptic tank! So, IS BLEACH OK.....OR....IS BLEACH NOT OK???? This is the question! https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/guides/how-to-clean-toilet/ This image is taken from the article that you linked... Tks for that, too! gamb00ler
41 minutes ago, GammaGlobulin said: So, IS BLEACH OK.....OR....IS BLEACH NOT OK???? This is the question! I personally don't use bleach. I use a bucket of water splashed into the bowl to lower the water level. To protect the septic tank bacteria, I use a brush and the smallest practical amount of the product you say is useless. By every fourth such cleaning a barely visible ring of hard water stain remains at the normal height of the water in the bowl. After using the bowl cleaner I then use a piece of pumice to remove that ring of stain followed by a full toilet flush. Et voilà ... a sparking bowl is revealed. I imported a supply of pumice that should last many years. Edited January 18 by gamb00ler
GammaGlobulin
RE: BLEACH in Septic Tank? FYI: https://www.muck-munchers.co.uk/can-i-use-bleach-in-my-septic-tank/ https://www.petesoutflow.com/bleach-and-your-septic-system#:~:text=Although bleach effectively destroys germs, will become clogged with waste. And so... Maybe it is best to research this question further. And, if you can hire a woman/man/marine to clean your toilet for you, instead of simply pouring bleach in your bog, then.... Why not? Unfortunately, these days, it is not so easy to call out to hire somebody to clean your bathroom unmentionable. I hate cleaning toilets. This is all that I know. GammaGlobulin
Please Note: Many chlorine-free products use formulas that release hydrogen peroxide instead of chlorine. Other bleach alternatives include baking soda, tea tree oil, lemon juice, and vinegar. And... I will now try some of these.
