Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin confirmed today a delay to the launch of the “digital wallet” scheme, but no cancellation, adding that he wants to receive official recommendations from the national anti-graft body first.

He was speaking at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, after returning from the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

Speaking on Wednesday, Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat also admitted that the scheme, originally set for May, will be postponed so the government can consider all information involved.

The government is seeking the issuance of a bill to authorise the borrowing of Bt500 billion to fund the scheme, despite the fact that, during the May general election campaign, the Pheu Thai party promised to use the national budget, not a loan, to support the scheme.

Delaying tactics, they can't afford the bribe.

this could be an indication of the real state of finances ,   my guess - they are in serioue trouble

As soon as the taxi driver, in this case No Meter Thavasin,  finds the digital wallet it will be returned to the owners.

Another PTP campaign promise broken.

Have they advanced any of their campaign promises?

This was always an impractical scheme/bribe, cobbled together to win votes. The 'PM' now has to face reality.

Good time to buy shares in 7-Eleven, because a good percentage will be spent there
