The opposition Move Forward party believes that its former leader, Pita Limjaroenrat, will be cleared of a charge that he held a stake in the iTV media company when he applied for candidacy in the May 14th general election last year and will not lose his parliamentary status.

 

The Constitutional Court is scheduled to deliver its ruling this Wednesday.

 

The Move Forward party released a 7-minute video yesterday, explaining why the party believes that Pita, currently chief advisor to the incumbent leader of the party, will be cleared by the charter court and will resume his duties in the party as a party-list MP.

 

The reasons cited by the Move Forward party to support its belief are:

 

-iTV no longer has a license to operate a television station,after the government cancelled its contract in 2007.

 

-iTV has never registered to produce newspapers or other printed materials. It does not hold a license to produce movies, video content or advertisements.

That being the case....what the hell has the Constitutional Court being doing all these months.....counting their money?

The "powers that be" to whom the courts are beholden, certainly in political matters, don't give a fig about the rights and wrongs. Their given task is to keep Pita out of the political arena.

 

Now the current state of flux in politics, with the return of Thaksin, his likely release from " detention" and the almost inevitable return of his sister muddies the water - they may decide to use it as a cover to get rid of Pitta, or they may decide that with Pheu Thai/Thaksin coming back into play, one headache is enough, and to let Pitta back into Parliament.

 

Rest assured, their will be other shots in their locker should they need to deal with him.

But don't uncross those fingers just yet .

Why took it so long to make a decision?? The court orders the Government to take swift action against a almost impossible to solve air pollution problem, while now they take the time to rule about something from May ... took almost a year

It took so long because they managed to suspend him from day one.

Not a chance. The ruling elite are frightened of him. They will make sure he is expelled from any political activity.

Certain political parties want to see the Constitutional Court ban what might be termed Opposition parties (to pro-military coalition parties)/Progressive Democratic Parties. Why such an idea that in a constitutional monarchy state exists may be found in the Venice Commission's "Guidelines on Prohibition and Dissolution of Political Parties and Analogous Measures" dated December 11, 1999.
