PRIME MINISTER Srettha Thavisin said this morning (Feb. 3) at Don Mueang Airport before flying to Sri Lanka for an official visit that although the Thai people cannot wait any longer for the 10,000 baht digital wallet project to start, his government is still waiting for a recommendation from the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), Matichon newspaper said.

He added that he has waited for a long time for NACC’s recommendation but it has still not come and now thinks there must be another way to kickstart this project.

Upon his return he will be holding talks with Deputy Finance Minister Julapun  Amornvivat on this issue.

The NACC is stalling in order to figure out how they can profit off it as well.

Everyone needs to get a piece of the pie.....

NACC is awaiting clear action by the government while the government is waiting for the graft agency’s recommendation

And the people are waiting for their money.

The talk of Thaksin's plans to have his daughter replace Srettha is growing so loud that one wonders why Srettha doesn't just quit. He has no following in PT, so can do nothing domestically which explains why he flies around the world continuously on pointless roadshows like his former gf Yingluck was made to do to keep her out of the way. It seems that Thaksin is keeping him on as a useful idiot to let him take the hit, if the digital wallet blows up in their faces.  Otherwise he can't wait to get out of hospital and have his daughter installed, so that he will effectively be PM again.

Yes, I expect you and me are not the only ones thinking this!

Apart from corruption in government, the whole scheme is ridicules, anything digital will and can be scammed, but good if your an alcoholic, shops can fiddle the books easily.

I am wondering who is in charge in THailand.. We have a Government but they have to wait for the EC, CC, Senate and the NACC to make any decision. What is the use of a government than if everybody must have a say

According to the current Constitution (2017/official translation):

Section 2.  Thailand adopts a democratic regime of government with the King as Head of State.

Digital vote buying scheme to give it the correct title 😃

'Graft busters' want a slice of the cake.

It was never going to happen, just another election scam.

I know but that is no answer on my question... Normally the government propose and make laws, and the parties ruling and opposite discuss them and vote. But here everything seems to go first to another institution and than back with or without approval of the institution. If the institutions have so much power why need an elected Government?

The PM is looking for maximum coverage of his behind on this one.

He needs all these controlling organizations (Council of State, NACC)  on board, to avoid prosecution in the future.

An "elected government" is required for appearances.

probably he is afraid that if the 10k scheme is cancelled he will be charged with vote buying, which is in fact true too

I think Sretta should be Foreign Minister not Finance Minister. It would better suit his frequent International business trips.
