Veryfying Paypal With Bangkok Bank Be1st Card - How?

Recommended Posts

My wife just signed up for her own PayPal account and got verified using her Bangkok Bank Be1st Visa Card, which is a regular ATM card that can also be used online since a few weeks (was discussed on this forum somewhere). Now she needs to enter the "Expanded Use" number that PayPal sends making a small debit of $1.95 (around THB 65), but I imagine this number won't show up on her bank book and walking into the Bangkok Bank branch asking for this would probably just draw question marks on everyone's heads.

Does anyone have experience on how to obtain this number? Usually it shows up on the credit card statements quite fine, but I'm not sure how they would be visible on a bank book.

In the case of a b1st debit card, you have to go to your local branch and explain what you need.

In my case they called the bualuang service (responsible for the be1st cards) where my wife explained what she needed.

They required her to enter the be1st 16 digit card number (entered on the keypad of the phone) and then followed by the PIN code (again on the keypad). After having verified this way she was the owner of the card, they told her the amount deducted, by who (paypal) and the expanded use number paypal sent to the system.

Normally the number of Bualuang is 1333, but then you are listening to a compute voice, and I'm not sure how you have to end up talking to a real person...

Oh, and i've always wondered why you cannot fund your paypal account from your Thai bank account (although you can send your paypal funds to your Thai bank account).

You also cannot fund it from you be1st card you used when registering, when sending a "request money" to your own e-mail, and going through the motions to pay it using that same be1st card, you'll get a message you cannot use the same card as the one you have on file with them.

Practically you don't ever need to fund your paypal account!!!

When you try to pay something using paypal, and you do not have sufficient finds inside your account, paypal will automatically give you the option to settle the missing balance with the card on file with them (the be1st card used for verifying your account). It works perfectly as long as you have sufficient funds on your bangkok bank account, just the same way they were able to deduct the 1,95 US$ when verifying your account!

Well it definitely seems to work! A charge of Baht 66.58 just showed up on her Bangkok Bank statement (requested it over fax 5 minutes ago). I guess we'll wait a few days before calling 1333 to get the PayPal number. They may not have it yet or if it is entered to quickly on the PayPal website they may freeze the account ..as their website says it takes 2-4 days or something to receive the code.

  • 2 weeks later...

i've just looked up paypal's Premier Account (i only need it to sell online, not buy anything), and they asked if i wanted to add a credit card to my account. i too have a Bangkok Bank Be1st, but doesn't have the three digits on the back. he one I mislaid did, but they replaced it with one without.

sorry if this sounds a little clueless, but would i need to add a credit card if i'm only using the account to receive funds ONLY, anyway?

Hi,

It will show in your statement something like this:

PP *1234 EXPUSE 4033454321 SG U.S. Dollar 1.95 68.2

where...

"1234" is the code

"68.2" is the amount in Baht.... so this depends on what exchange rate they use

Hope this helps.

Check under the first four digits of the card, there should be a tiny number (4 digits)..use the last 3 digits of that :o

and there's no problem receiving funds into your Thai bank account from overseas? paypal's website doesn't list Thailand as being one of their 'recipient' friendly countries. i did contact them, but answer not clear. simple yes or no would have sufficed. anyone successfully received from overseas? thankyou

If you have a Thai paypal account (meaning when you registered you gave Thailand as your place of residence), and you verified your account (see above, can be done with Bkk Bank b1st card) then you can couple this paypal account to a Thai bank account.

You can withdraw any funds in this paypal account to your Thai bank account.

Unfortunately very high hidden fees!

You cannot directly fund your paypal account from your Thai bank account, but if you want to make a payment with paypal, and there is insufficient funds in there, your registered card (the b1st card in my case) will automatically get charged the amount needed to make the transaction. SO there in no need to fund your account.

Obviously, the be1st card being only a debit card, you do need to have enough funds in the bank account on which the be1st card is isuued!

I am a Thai and using Paypal account with eBay.

First you have add your debit card (or credit card) OR even your be1st card with eBay Paypal then you've to wait for 3-5 working day then make a call to 02 6455555 or 1333 <--- for Bangkok Bank until you can get the operator on your line, inform him/her that you are waiting for your paypal code then operator will transfer your line to the machine again , the machine will ask you to press 16 digits on your card and after that the machine also will ask you to press your 4 digits pin code then operator will come back to you to confirm that you are the real owner of that account then she will give you a paypal code thats it AND you have to use the paypal code to verify your paypal account and you can start send or receive the money straight away.

Thats from my experienced and its not difficult at all.

If you have internet banking set-up with BKK Bank account you can also get the required PayPal data by clicking on your Be1st card link when logged into the internet banking and it will show you more detailed info on the Be1st transactions. But it can take 3 business days or more for the more detailed info to showup (versus the immediate debit/deposit with minimum info) which usually means the transaction/charge has been completely settled between the merchant/sender and BKK Bank.

That is how I got my PayPal info when PayPal sent the trial deposits when I was setting up my PayPal link to my Be1st debit/ATM card. And in this particular PayPal case the detailed data showed up in one business day. Since then, I've used the Be1st card once with PayPal to pay for an Ebay buy just to ensure the link worked OK-fine. Or, as mentioned in other posts, a person can call or visit the bank to get the info...but if may be a few business days before they could give you the detailed info you are looking for...depends on how fast the transaction posts/clears/settles.

you get your bank statement, it will come up with a code like code1323paypal.. you enter that 1323 code into the paypal verification thing, and then it is verified and you can withdrawl money to the bank account for free, but it takes 3 to 5 days

And still nobody has realised this is a 3 year old question?

I have, but certain posts live on for a long time and continue to grow in adding the latest slightly different question on same subject / updated info / feedback....kinda like pinned posts.
