Thai police arrested 15 Vietnamese workers yesterday for working illegally on a cannabis farm in the southern province of Phetchaburi. The owner of the farm is under investigation.

Phetchaburi Provincial Public Health Office and Administration Office received a complaint from locals in the Tha Yang district that a number of Vietnamese nationals were working on a cannabis farm in the area, and the complainant suspected that the foreigners might be illegal workers.

The authorities, along with officers from Tha Mai Ruak Police Station, raided the ganja farm yesterday. Police said the farm was large, with an area of 16,000 square metres and included 10 cannabis greenhouses. Officers found 11 Vietnamese working on the farm, none of whom had work permits.

The arrested Vietnamese workers confessed that four other colleagues did not come to work that day. Officers later arrested the rest of the Vietnamese nationals at a rented house near the farm. In total, 15 Vietnamese were arrested at the farm.

Fifteen law-breaking illegals get arrested while their law-breaking employer only warrants being "investigated"?

Law and order is alive and well in Thailand.

Slavery too.

Destroy the plants, close the farm, jail the owner... thought not.

Put the farm under government oversight during the investigation of the owner, legalize and retain the subject workers with appropriate compensation to continue the enterprise. Break the human trafficking cycle.

Work that Thais wont do.

They do, but in foreign countries for lots more money...

But i thought that they're going to change the laws and re-criminalise Ganja dealing,

so what the point in having a farm now?...

Medicinal use only, so the pharmaceutical industry needs supplies to work with?

But not for supplying personal use.

Thanks for the geography lesson... but what's Phetchabun got to do with this post?

Yes, Phetchaburi (sometimes called Phetburi) is central Thailand. On the Gulf side of Thailand, the south starts in Chumpon.

The quandary was more what's it doing in the Southern Thailand forum rather than the Central Thailand forum - it's worth noting the forum blurb for Central Forum does include "Phetchaburi". Snoop1130 does have a history of being geographically challenged.
