Can someone enlighten me as to why Americans wear their hats indoors? Do they wear them in bed?

No , we all have canopy beds, but when not in bed we wear them to keep dry because we all have leaky roofs.

I'm more interested in why they wear socks while on the job.

IMO they wear them in Australia to provide protection against drop bears.

Well according to a film I watched " The Sting", yes they do - and their vests.

If I can add to the controversy - why do they wear them back to front? Quite extraordinary!
