Democratic Congressmen Propose Renaming Federal Prison after Trump

In response to a Republican-led effort to rename Washington Dulles International Airport after former President Donald Trump, three Democratic congressmen have introduced legislation to rename a federal prison in Miami, Florida, after Trump himself.

The bill, presented by Reps. Gerry Connolly of Virginia, Jared Moskowitz of Florida, and John Garamendi of California, seeks to rename the Miami Federal Correctional Institution as the "Donald J. Trump Federal Correctional Institution."

This move comes amidst Trump facing multiple federal and state criminal charges, including allegations of mishandling sensitive government information and falsifying business records. Despite pleading not guilty in these cases, Trump's legal battles continue, with trial dates pending and appeals underway.

The Democrats behind the bill highlight Trump's penchant for branding his properties with his name, suggesting that having his name on a federal building would fulfill a long-standing desire of the former president.

Meanwhile, the Republican-sponsored bill to rename Dulles airport after Trump has garnered support from several GOP lawmakers, with Rep. Guy Reschenthaler of Pennsylvania leading the effort. Proponents of this initiative cite Trump's leadership qualities and contributions to America's prosperity and strength as reasons for the renaming.

While the airport currently bears the name of John Foster Dulles, who served as secretary of state under President Dwight D. Eisenhower, the proposed renaming reflects a shift in Republican sentiment towards honoring Trump's legacy in a prominent manner.

Both proposals underscore the ongoing political divisions surrounding Trump's presidency and the divergent perspectives on his leadership and accomplishments.

Why shame the memory of Mr Dulles a true patriot what did he do wrong?

Naming a prison for him would be an honor.  DT has distinguished himself as a champion of prisoners, and has probably hired more ex-convicts than anyone has ever seen.  He has no qualms hiring people actively under indictment. And don't forget his selfless acts of kindness in dispensing pardons.  Perhaps this will be the prison he gets put in when all is said and done, where they will build a presidential cell to also accommodate his Secret Service details.

Spilled my coffee reading that lame reasons. TRump added billions to the country debts and mismanaged the Covid pandemic and wrecked the economy for Joe Biden to clean up. He try to split the NATO alliance and kowtowed to Putin, Xi and Kim. Strength? BS reasoning.
