michael888
Hello, I have read a lot of conflicting info on this subject. In Bangkok, how early can one go to get a 30 day extension for a 60 day tourist visa? Also, is that the same time frame for phuket? Must you drop off your visa, then return to pick it up another day? Or is it done during one visit? Many thanks. DrJack54
At CW same visit. You most likely require TM30 and photocopies of basic pages of pp. TM7 with photo and 1900b Can apply couple of weeks prior to expiry of current permission of stay.

So you can apply a couple of weeks prior to expiry of visa. Would anyone know if there is an exact amount of days before expiry that i permitted. Also, if anyone knows if Phuket has the same rules or different stipulations that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Tod Daniels
Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Buriram, Samut Prakan offices all allow you to get an extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp. That means IF you show up free entry (30 day visa exempt) you can go the very next day if you want to and apply for a 30 day extension at those offices. Where as if you have a real 60 day tourist visa entry (TR60) you can go for the extension 2 weeks after you stamp in Keep in mind there are a couple offices Jomtien which requires you have a week or less left on your 30 day entry or 60 day tourist visa stamp and Samui that wants you to go when you have 2 weeks or less left on those stamps

No special requirements at Phuket. Re days in advance ...it depends on office. Some (eg Jomitien) can say come back later. Couple of weeks is common. You can use agent if timing important eg want to travel after obtaining the extension

If he had a visa exempt entry he would apply at LakSi The two forms you listed have been around for quite some time. Required for all extensions. Terms and conditions+ acknowledgement of overstay penalties

I had times when they have asked about it and times when they haven't. But not sure what has been the difference.

Unrelated to extensions there were few reports re visa exempt entry at a land border asking about onward travel..
