Pro Cannabis Activists Mark 2 Years of Legalisation, Begin Sit-in at Govt House

On June 9th, 2024, Mr. Prasitchai Nunual, the secretary-general of the network for Shaping the Future of Thai Cannabis, and other cannabis advocacy groups of more than 300 individuals called for a protest on June 9 at 1 PM in front of the UN Office, preparing for a march to the Government House.

They aim to demand that the government use scientific processes to determine the future of cannabis regulation and to prevent its reclassification as a narcotic illegal drug.

 

The stage for a major protest scheduled for June 9th, 2024, marks the second anniversary of cannabis legalization in Thailand. The demonstrators marched to the United Nations Office on Ratchadamnoen Avenue, announcing their intent to file a lawsuit with the Administrative Court if the government reclassifies cannabis as an illegal drug.

 

Prasitchai emphasized that the movement aims to safeguard cannabis rights for the public. He stressed the importance of regulating cannabis through specific legislation rather than narcotics laws, which would restrict its use and make it accessible only to a privileged few. The demonstrators will reportedly continue their prolonged protest until the government issues the Cannabis Control Act.

Many opened their ' Cannabis shop ' with loans from banks .

If they force them to close because they changed the legalisation , they will stay heavily indebted , not because of their own fault , but because of the governments decisions .

The decriminalisation was for medicinal purposes only. No more then .THC

Everyone who was into smoking dope decided to ignore Anutin's statement that 'you still cannot smoke joints'.

Good idea. So where are the statistics?

How many users of more dangerous drugs, i.e. yaba, use now cannabis?

How many people use drugs now who never used drugs before?

How about changes from other legal drugs like alcohol?

Are there lots of problems with people being admitted to hospital because of cannabis use?

Who makes money with the cannabis trade?

How was tourism effected? More quality tourist?

 

I see the good sides from legalizing drugs, and I see the bad sides. It would be good to see statistics from Thailand.

Or did nobody care about analyzing the situation and doing some statistics?

Sorry for the cannabis shop owners but they went way beyond the legal 0.2% THC levels, without any concern for anyone but their own profit. Don't stick by the rules if you wish, but don't complain if it "boomerangs" back at you.

..... he has been diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat condition known as Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) or arrhythmia.......They advised him to get plenty of rest and avoid unnecessary stress.
