Alternatives To Cm Ram

Featured Replies

Hi,

We are having our baby with a Doctor from Sri Pat hospital and do all check-ups there.

For giving birth, the rooms at CM RAM look a lot nicer though so we are thinking about arranging giving birth there (with our doctor). That would all work, no problem, we already researched it. He would just come over to the RAM and do the delivery there.

Is there another nice private hospital in CM?

The RAM is kinda OK, seemingly the best there is in CM, but really it doesn't hold a candle to the really nice hospitals in BKK.

The other problem with the RAM is ethics. In my own experience, and from what I heard from many others too, the CM RAM will always try to sell you on some treatment which you might not need. Eg suggest surgery but forget to tell you about alternatives, that sort of thing. Money comes before the best interest of the patient @ RAM. Sad but true.

Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks!

That certainly is the reputation that RAM is getting on Thai Visa, but it is not what I have experienced (However, I have gone there VERY infrequently).

I wish a Doctor from the hospital would give us their perspective. :o

If you feel like that about RAM then avoid Lanna. They just guess at treatment you might need. Absolute muppets.

Klai Mor Hospital is where I've been going since Blue Cross stopped authorizing Ram1 a few years back (exorbitant costs, I surmise). Decided to go there as a young doctor from Klai Mor came to me for medical English lessons and is currently studying postgrad in New York State.

Klai Mor is on the road to Hang Dong on the LHS a soi or two before Lotus. It has a small 'shop-like' entrance on this 4-lane hwy, but take the small soi just before, to access the main entrance with parking. The rooms are pleasant and relatively inexpensive - simply ask for a tour and check out the medical theatres as well. They have brochures for all services; including pregnancies and child birth detailing various packages such as pre-natal and post-natal follow-up. My daughter-in-law is having her first child delivered at Klai Mor sometime at the beginning of this August. Klai Mor Hospital has its own, plus visiting specialists who also work at the university, Ram, etal. Tel Klai Mor Hospital 053-200002, 053-200141 Hope this is of value to you.:o

I go from personal experience more than anything. Has happened to me on two or three occasions where they suggested some treatment as first choice (eg surgery) which should really be second or third choice, eg. after proper x-rays or MRI. I have heard the same from others.

I guess so far the consensus is it's RAM or nothing :D too bad!

I have generally found McCormick to be very good.

Personally I would go for either McCormick or Suan Dokh (private section).
