Employees of a noodle shop in Udon Thani have become local heroes after saving two lives in one day. The incidents, which were captured on security cameras at the Prathong Noodle Shop on Prajak Road, occurred on July 1.

The first incident involved a foreign customer who started choking on his food. His Thai wife tried to help him by performing the Heimlich manoeuvre. Despite her efforts, it was the swift actions of the shop's employees that ultimately saved his life.

The employees, Piyathida Pimpha and Sorchart Phanomai, detailed the incident. While preparing noodles, Piyathida noticed the customer struggling for breath and looking as though he might pass out. The man's wife tried to help with the Heimlich manoeuvre, but the shop's owner, Ploy, noticed the situation and rushed over. Ploy took over from the distraught wife and continued the life-saving measure until the man could breathe normally. The customer's wife later mentioned that her husband often chokes on food.

Later in the day, a second incident occurred when a new employee at the shop had a seizure and fell off a chair. Again, Ploy jumped into action, providing first aid and calling for emergency services. The worker was taken to the hospital, but has not returned to work since the incident.

Both Piyathida and Sorchart were taken aback by the incidents as they're not normal occurrences for their workplace. They praised Ploy for her calm and decisive actions during the crises, which likely saved the lives of both the customer and the ailing employee. They noted that these incidents underline the need for vigilance and readiness in case of emergencies, as well as staff training in responding to such events.
