Student Visa Bank Account?

Featured Replies

hi everyone

another question i need to ask to you good people

my girlfreind is currently with me in england on a visiting visa which ends fairly soon so we have decided to apply for student visa so she can study english at one of the london colleges.

all looks good on the websites and they give good documentation to take to uk embassy when she applies back in bangkok in the near future the only trouble is about the want to see 4,500 quid in the bank!!! will my account and sponsors be enough for the immigration people like it was when we applied for visiting visa?

thanks for your help

Daniel,

Although someone studying in the UK may work part-time during term-time, the visa officer will expect to see that your girlfriend can be supported and have her fees paid without her having to work. This will mean having as much in your bank account as is necessary to support the two of you and pay for her studies.

I don't wish to rain on your parade, but I believe these studies are a bit of a non-starter, to be honest. It's a very well trodden route and unless your girlfriend has a history of further education in Thailand, will be difficult to get. It will be evident to the visa officer that applying for a student visa is just another means of extending your girlfriend's visit. They will additionally suggest that should she wish to learn English, there are many such courses to be had in Thailand at a cheaper cost.

All the best,

Scouse.
