Australian Spouse Visa Sponsorship Question

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Form 40SP is the sponsorship form for an Australian Visa.

Q17 asks if i have previously sponsored/nominated a spouse. I have not.

Q49 in a section titled "Previous sponsorships/nominations" asks again if i have lodged any other sponsorships/nominations (apart from the ones in Q17) or signed a maintenance guarantee or assurance of support.

Are they asking only about spouse/partner/family visa nominations or any other nomination at all?

I have prevoiusly sponsored a business partner to Australia, on a comapny/business Visa.

This was only about 4 years ago.

Do i need to declare this?

Will it be held against me that i have prevoiusly sponsored someone?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

I believe the questions relate to spouse visa only, but

- if in doubt mention it in statement in the application

- contact the embassy via email. When lodging a successful application recently found this was a quick way of clarification for some of the questions.

Good Luck

There are limitations on the number and frequency of sponsorships any one person can make.

Question 17 refers to your spouse.(past, if any, and present)

Question 49 refers to any other applicants that you have sponsored into Australia in the past for any type of visa.

If the sponsorship that you applied for four years ago was concluded without any adverse recordings, you shouldn't have any problems with this sponsorship.
