In a shocking incident in Thailand's Ayutthaya province, a teenage boy and local residents lynched a drug addict following an attempted rape.

Police from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Police Station responded to the scene, discovering Yuranan's lifeless body on the second floor of the house. Yuranan, a known drug addict, was found with his arms and legs bound by rope, and his body marked with multiple wounds and bruises.

The 17-year-old teenager, who ultimately confessed to the attack, detailed his harrowing experience. He recounted that Yuranan, who lived nearby, broke into his house during the night and charged into his mother’s bedroom.

Hearing his mother's desperate screams, he rushed to her defence. Enraged by what he witnessed, the teenager admitted to kicking Yuranan in the neck and punching him repeatedly. He then sought help from neighbouring residents, who joined in subduing Yuranan.

Police reports highlight Yuranan's history of similar criminal acts linked to his drug addiction. His body has been sent to the Pathum Thani Provincial Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death.

The teenager now faces charges of assault resulting in death. However, given that he did not attempt to flee the scene, he has been temporarily released. Authorities have also summoned other locals who participated in the lynching for further questioning.

Under Section 290 of the Thai Criminal Law, the teenager could face imprisonment ranging from three to 15 years for his actions. However, given his age and the circumstances, there may be adjustments to his legal consequences. This critical incident has sparked a heated discussion on community safety and justice in the face of immediate danger.

Especially as the current justice system is not functioning ... just look at all the "criminals" in government.

You could use this boy in other provinces.... be good to clean up a few more nutters

For the poster of the confused emoji, you really are dumb, aren't you! 🤪

Now that's how things should be handled, I hope the rapist died slowly and painfully.

Guy was in their home so let the boy go free.

Actually send the village to visit that guy who killed the 2 month old baby 👍

Justice done, no more problems from him .

Don't prosecute the boy , give him the  praise he deserves.

Find me a son that wouldn't do the same.

I hope he gets a very light sentence, if any.

I'd go with the theory the grimmer the ending the less of the offending 🤔

Which would back up the saying, if you can't do the time... don't do the crime

While the son is clearly in the right, the lynch mob mentality of the others is a worry.

What if the accuser had been high or vindictive or just plain wrong and told all the neighbours xx had tried raping his mum... and xx is lynched to death when innocent? I am not saying this is the case here, I'm just pointing out how easily, quickly and happily Thais will join such an incident, especially if they're guaranteed to be on the 'winning side' and can claim to feel justified.
