Pol. Gen. Surachet 'Big Joke'  Hakparn, Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, has completed his extensive explanation to the Police Ethics Protection Committee regarding his appeal against a wrongful dismissal order. After submitting documents and an oral explanation that took over two hours, he expressed readiness to accept the committee's decision, whether favourable or not.

Surachet's appeal falls under the new Police Act of 2022. He assured the public that, should the decision be against him, he will pursue legal recourse through the Supreme Administrative Court to challenge the order, aiming to protect his status as a police officer. He reiterated that he cannot take legal action until the committee’s decision is made.

If the outcome is positive, Surachet confirmed he would resume his duties at the Royal Thai Police without further legal actions. The timeline for the committee’s decision remains uncertain, but he noted that it could affect the selection of the new national police chief set for September.

During today's session, Surachet encountered Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, another high-ranking officer, but they did not interact. The committee did not raise additional questions, focusing solely on listening to both parties.

Surachet acknowledged missing his police duties over the past 4-5 months but stayed neutral on speculations about his future role, including rumours suggesting he might take on a leadership position or ministerial role overseeing the police.

He also clarified that adding a new letter to his name was a long-suggested change for good fortune, unrelated to recent events, reported Siam Rath.

With the committee’s decision pending, the atmosphere remains tense as Surachet awaits the verdict that will determine his professional future with the Royal Thai Police.

of course not ... they are all corrupt from the bottom to the top. everyone knows it and everyone accepts it.

my thai teacher told me 20 years ago that corruption in thailand is like terminal cancer; it won't go away ...

Does he have another choice?

My thoughts also.

That said I'm sure he's done all he can to ensure it does go his way.

I don't think he will ever accept a decision that demonstrates the man's guilt, he reminds me of somebody in America who lives every day of his life in complete denial, this man is likely as guilty as they come.
