Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, elected leader of the newly reformed People’s Party, made a bold declaration today, stating the party’s aim to secure a majority in the 2027 general election and form a “government of changes." This announcement came following a meeting last night where Thailand's former Move Forward MPs and core members solidified the new party’s leadership and direction.

Natthaphong, along with a five-member executive committee, was selected during this pivotal session. All 143 former Move Forward MPs have transitioned to the People’s Party, despite earlier speculations that one might not join.

One of the People’s Party’s core aims under Natthaphong’s leadership is to continue the controversial attempts to amend the lèse majesté law. He asserted that the Constitutional Court does not preclude such amendments. However, he emphasized a more measured approach in the future.

Amending this law is just one item from over 300 policies that were part of the Move Forward party’s agenda. Natthaphong pointed out that the previous efforts, spanning from the Future Forward to the Move Forward party, included introducing more than 60 draft bills to parliament. These drafts focused on decentralisation of powers, labour protection, and land rights—key issues the party believes are crucial for the country’s progress.

In terms of alliances, Natthaphong stated that while the People’s Party is open to discussions with other parties regarding cabinet positions, any cooperation would not come at the expense of the party’s ideology or the public interest.

The party’s immediate goal is to ramp up its membership base. Starting tomorrow, a membership and fund-raising campaign will commence, targeting an initial 100,000 members and, ultimately, aiming for 10 million.

The party’s name, "People’s," was chosen to underscore their commitment to being a party for and by the people, rooted in democratic principles. The party’s logo, an inverted triangle, symbolises this vision.

Alongside Natthaphong, the executive committee includes Sarayuth Jailak as secretary-general, Nutthawut Buaprathum as party registrar, Chutima Kotchapan as treasury official, and Phicharn Chaowapatanawong.

The Peoples Party?

This name sounds like a (in your face) mocking communist name where the leaders rule with iron fist....And the people under them just do as their told....

Example....The government of the People's Republic of China....

I did have a little hope that the Move Forward Party was the real deal.....But their (redder than red) new name screams controlled opposition...

Ohoh... I feel a coup coming after their victory

  • Popular Post

I wish them luck for the future I'm very confident that they will hit their first 100,000 members as a lot of voters were from the Bangkok region I am also convinced that providing they stick to their plans they could win the votes of many more millions than the 14 million votes they achieved in last years election only time will tell.

It is likely the people will again choose this new party as they want progress, they want the country to move forward, and they want reform. However there are some very toxic powers in Thailand, who don't want anything to change because the status quo means billions upon billions upon billions, and all that matters to them is money and power.

Nothing else matters. The people do not matter one iota to these lowlifes.

I have the opposite view... The Peoples party is for the people.

Win by a landslide? Sure. Not be able to form govt because of EC and CC? Most likely. Able to form govt. but then comes the coup. Possible scenario. Coup before next election? Also possible scenario.

The inverted triangle motif is a sign of Consultative management/government. One that I have always believed in.

With the single person on lowest point of triangle (the PM), only there to support the masses of Thai people above him.

Turn the triangle, this would put the PM and his minions at the top. above the masses giving an Autocratic form of management. which Thailand has at present.

Anyone having participated in Management courses and associated exercises knows that an Autocrat is bound to fail, look to all European and Asian usurpers in the last centaury, all had a warped sense of right and wrong, to the detriment of millions. as with this government.

The autocratic PM should immediately take his place at the bottom of the triangle and start consulting with the Thai masses above him. This is the basis of any democratic state.

I think the odds are pretty high the new party will be in court to be dissolved a month or so before the next election

  • Popular Post

I assume the government and army are franticly digging the dirt as we speak.

Chas

Can someone explain  the point of Thai political system, all that has happened is a name change !!! so when they get banned again another name change ?? how long can that go on, this is no political system, It seems any one can complain  and bang Party banned??? what would happen if they where the ruling party in government would a few        unelected people bring Down the government don't think this is a very good system

Wishing an overwhelming turn out and supportive voting for them and the American Democrats. Both facing those oriented to keeping control in the hands of those controlling wealth. (That said, as regards the USA, after driving a stake through the heart of the Trump party, I join with others at demanding Democrats more forcefully address the issues facing the working middle class).

If They can shelve their position on the Monarchy that would be a game changer and more difficult for others to ban them again.

I like their spirit, but they're still determined to tread on ice:

"Though the court in January ordered Move Forward to drop its campaign to amend article 112, as the lese-majeste law is known, Natthaphong said the new party would revive it but tread carefully.

"We propose to amend article 112 to ensure that this law is not a political tool used to abuse others, but we won't be careless," Natthaphong said.
"We will continue to push for the improvement and fixing of this law, which is still problematic.""

Congratulations, you "lose" the internet today.

It isn't often that someone posts something so obtuse that all of the other posts on the entirety of the internet that day are better.....but, what the heck, you've accomplished that.

Pat on the back or slap upside the head - whichever you prefer.

Maybe the dinosaurs have not realized, what dog they woke up. For sure that dog will not go back to sleep. A bumpy ride into the 21st century is ahead!

And they're done.

next election, they should offer 1.000.000 baht per person, for their vote... seems legal to do that these days... and only for people who never paid tax
