Thai Doctor Saves Foreign Tourist After Cardiac Arrest on Pattaya Street

A construction crane toppled over on September 12, near a subway construction site in Thonburi, injuring a motorcyclist passing through the area. The incident occurred at the entrance of Soi Taksin 9/3 on Somdet Phra Chao Taksin Road in the Samre Subdistrict of Thonburi District, Bangkok, close to Samitivej Thonburi Hospital.

 

The injured individual has been identified as Mr. Pitsanu, a motorcyclist who was riding through the area at the time of the collapse. He sustained injuries including a fractured right leg and a wound on his left shoulder. Rescue teams promptly transferred him to Samitivej Thonburi Hospital for immediate treatment.

 

 

Eyewitness Mr. Uthen, who was also riding his motorcycle near the scene, reported seeing the crane in operation before it began to sway. Moments later, the crane toppled over, crushing the motorbike beneath it. According to Mr. Uthen, the crane's collapse appeared sudden, and he recalled hearing a loud noise just before it fell onto the motorcyclist.

 

Upon inspection of the area, it was noted that the ground near the construction site showed signs of subsidence, with a noticeable depression where the crane had been stationed. This has led authorities to suspect that ground instability may have caused the collapse.

 

Following the incident, Pol. Lt. Natthapong Khanarat, an investigative officer from Bukkhalo Police Station, arrived at the scene to assess the situation. Authorities dismantled the damaged crane and cleared the area to prevent further accidents.

 

Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the ground subsidence and whether there were any violations of safety regulations during the crane's operation.

Scary how often this seems to happen.....the world over.......not just Thailand.

 

I narrowly missed one hitting me in Belgium......fell across all six lanes of the motorway.....stuck there for six hours.

No, stupidity of amateur workers not checking the land, ground and environment before starting a work.

I'd bet my last shekel on it.

It is not actually a crane, it is a piling rig fitted with a hydraulic diaphragm walling grab. There has been a failure of the working platform, which maybe was never provided in order to save cost.

The physics and engineering of these cranes is quite extreme.

It is impressive that they don't topple more frequently.

And there is the Problem "competent persons" there is No safety in Thailand nor any Safety awareness. Is this due to faulty crane installation, or a poorly maintained second hand old crane being used, or a crane operative with very little (if any or even rudimentary training) and the understanding of safety standards and the cranes working limits, weight load, reach range, plus how weather conditions wind etc. can and does safe working conditions?

 And who have they got inspecting this collapse the Police !!!!  they are experts in this now, its a bloody joke
