Walkman MP3 Any recommendation?

Featured Replies

I'm looking to buy a Walkman type MP3 player that I can use for music and MP3 Audio books.

I'd like inbuilt speaker plus's headphones but don't need Bluetooth.

I'm kinda looking at  Xiaomi Home IQQ New Model X3

Any thoughts and personal experiences anyone would like to pass on ?

Thanks

You know it's fake, don't you? A no name product. But if it does the job...

Maybe search for: mp3 player with speaker

They are not difficult to find.

Why so unpleasant? Is this the norm?

A fake what?

It's an MP3 player by  Xiaomi what's fake about that????

I have a tyre inflator unit from Xiaomi that is very good and does what it says on the box, so it's a name I have some faith in.

My thought is that I wouldn't find such a small speaker very useful. If I wanted a speaker, I'd get a quality player w/ added bluetooth and use a portable speaker like a JBL Go (from the JBL store): https://www.lazada.co.th/products/jbl-go3-ip67-5-i1820182940-s5461572583.htm.

Appreciate your thoughts, but lugging around an extra speaker, even a small one seems to defeat the point of the on Walkman concept.

Anyway speakers have come a long way since our day, the quality from those mobile phone speakers is truly amazing.

Nothing to do with Xiaomi.

I'm not convinced. The several models of Sony Walkman don't include built-in speakers. Most of the time, with a portable player, you're listening through earphones or earbuds that you lug along with player. The sound would be preferable to built-in or portable external speakers anyway because vastly superior.

Lugging a small portable speaker in your bag or suitcase would hardly be onerous, and the sound would also be much better than that from "mobile phone speakers." You might first hit a gym for strength training.

One of the great uses of a smartphone, can download and convert songs from YouTube to mp3s, VLC app is good for music playlists, even better for videos

Thank you all for your input, interesting and useful information.  (Well most of it)

Just for those who seem to be hell bent on convincing me that there is no life without a mobile phone, well good for you. but I don't have the need for one.

I don't have to worry about phone charges and have a landline that comes with the internet that is good enough for me.

As for downloading and that streaming stuff on the phone. I get all my MP3, music and audio books from the internet, no problem.

You know  you can use a mobile phone without a SIM card, no need to pay any extra charges just connect via WiFi  to your landline internet   copy over the songs/audio books, videos etc to the phone  then use it like an MP3 player  but better cos it can play movies too...but any way as they like to say here "up to you"

And doing that way, you can share your musical choice will everyone in your vicinity.

Yup. Absolutely superb product. Easy to use. Reliable.

Nonsense. Xiaomi Home IQQ New Model X3 does not exist. There is no connection with Xiaomi at all.

Hard to believe someone would actually believe it's a Xiaomi product, whilst not being able to locate it on any Xiaomi website.

It's a 'no name' product. Cannot even be a fake, since Xiaomi haven't created one in the first place.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006119148629.html No mention of Xiaomi anywhere. IQQ..yes.

Once upon a time, back in 2015, I bought the real thing.  Sort of expensive, but I can't complain.  Lately, I just use my iPhone.

I loved my Archos Jukebox 6000  listen to it for many hours at work

but it eventually got very temperamental  due to the battery connections

being naff...still works  after all these years but not very portably.

Eventually, you'll wish you had Bluetooth.  Maybe not today, but soon, and for the rest of your life...  And a video player

I remember when I paid more for a 1.5" screen video player than I pay today for a full feature smartphone with a Full HD screen and beaucoup GB of storage.  You don't actually have to put a SIM in it if you don't want a phone.

But you get the benefit of the economy of scale.  They make gazillions of them and they even sell last years' models at lower than MP3 prices.  And you can connect to wifi to download tunes.  I could never do that with an MP3 player.
