Leeds United take 3700 fans to Oldham on a tuesday night thats the official figure. So probably closer to 4000 in the third division as my mate Sunderland keeps pointing out. So what does it say about our club lets see, we are obviously not glory chasers as we are in the lower leagues where there is little or no coverage from the media , so what is it ?

It is the fact that we have a history, whether it be sucess or failure we are still talked about. Still hated but that's just jealously from wanabee clubs that will never enjoy the limelight and success that we have and still continue to enjoy. There will be 30,000 plus at Elland Road this weekend.

Lets see where your sorry arsed team Sunderland attendances will be at the end of the season. Below is a list of times when Sunderland have been relegated just to remind you . :o:D:D:D:D:bah:

Day Date Month Year Venue Opponent Sat 12 April 2003 a Birmingham Fri 14 April 2006 a Man Utd Wed 15 April 1970 h Liverpool Sat 26 April 1958 a Portsmouth Mon 6 May 1985 a Leicester Sat 11 May 1991 a Man City Sun 11 May 1997 a Wimbledon Sun 17 May 1987 h Gillingham Thur 19 May 1977 a Everton

why have a go at Sunderland ? We all know Leeds support & the passion for the club, after all we know for definate they aren't glory hunters as Leeds have won bugger all for years (when was the last Trophy) Like us, we're struggling in a division that am desperate to get out of but went down for footballing reasons (we were crap), fortunately we didn't spend multiple millions we didn't have then do a runner when we couldn't pay it back. Boston United went down the same road but were relegated once more for pulling the same stunt as Leeds. Bates & co should feel lucky they aren't plying their trade each week playing Bury , Barnet & Rochdale.

I have to say that I have been very impressed with Leeds start to the season...must have been very hrd to motivate the players to achieve what they have achieved...plus I reckon the support they get is probably worth an extra goal in every game.

I was watching teletext on Saturday and keeping an eye on their score, I was sorry to see them conceed in the last minute, still the run had to end sooner or later, but at least you are still unbeaten.

The irony is however , that you could get the greatest number of points in a season and still not get promoted :o

I bet Notts Forest fans are dead jelous of what Leeds have achieved so far this season, they should have done what you are doing now when they went down to league one...how many years ago?, they have failed to make any impact and are now just a top half team in that league, wheras I can't see that happening at Leeds. If you don't make it this year with such a ountain to climb then you will certainly win the league in style next year :D

Keep going ....and keep your heads up and be proud of what your team is achieving ON the pitch, its not your fault, its the suited <deleted> that put you where you are now.

Good Luck

It's a reacurring theme about Sunderland. :o

We all know that Leeds is a big club with a passionate following, just like Sunderland who also have a great deal of HISTORY.

The suited ######s didn't put you in the 3rd division, that was your boardroom, subsequent managers and players. However, the 15 point deduction may have been unjust, there is little that can be done about it now, other than doing what you are doing. I.e. winnning games.

At least have the decency to get the name right. Nottingham Forest & Notts County. No, I can say from the feed back I get from back home jealousy doesn't come into it. This the 3rd season btw we have been in the 3rd division. If we all knew then that you can run away from your debts & start a fresh we wouldn't have sold Jenas , Dawson , Reid , John to balance the books. It's taken time for us to pay back our debts & are just beginning to emerge from the most difficult period of our history. I do not have any gripe about Leeds fans/supporters just the way things have been handled, I know only too well the tremendous support Leeds enjoy & will continue to do so. I also know only too well about jealousy from our golden era winning the league at the first time of asking winning the European Cup (twice) when it was a "champions" cup also our record of winning the league cup 4 times & the longest game unbeaten run that Arsenal managed to overturn a couple of seasons back , but hey I don't live in the past only look forward to a successful return to the championship this season, hopefully.

To answer the question why Sunderland ? it is because a certain person keeps coming on here namely Sunderland to snipe at our predicament. For the record I have no axe to grind with Sunderland fans in general, just losers like him. So any chance I can find to rub his nose in it I will take.

Only kidding, he likes winding me up I like winding him up perfect really. :o

sunderland will never be as big as leeds, they will never win the top league in the foreseeable future,or get to a european cup final.no billionaire will take over a poor city.

also last time sunderland in premier league, attendance down in 20,000s when they started to struggle(pretty quick)

boos galore, not getting behind the club when they need it.

i was at elland road today,we are so united as a club atm as we feel everyone is against us,even cack teams like huddersfield revel in our 15point pen.they will feel the force of our team and fans on dec 10th :D

sunderland is also a sh*t hole of a city, poor relations to newcastle, where as leeds is the fastest growing city in england.

Report: Leeds 1 Yeovil 0

FORTUNE favoured the brave yet again at Elland Road when Leeds United struck with another late late goal.

Mark De Vries, the on-loan striker from Leicester City, found the net in the 89th minute to give Leeds maximum points in another dramatic finish, maintaining their record of being the only unbeaten side in the entire Football League.

Yeovil have more than the obvious to feel bad about on their long journey home having had the balance of play and opportunity.

Anthony Barry was the man closed to the mark in the first half, only for Casper Ankergren to keep him at bay with a proficient save.

And former Huddersfield player Marcus Stewart sliced agonisingly wide of the mark with juts 14 minutes to go.

Inevitably though, Dennis Wise showed why he was named manager of the month for League One for a second month running.

He upped the number of forwards on the pitch to four by the final whistle, and De Vries justified the bold move by heading home a left-wing cross by Jonathan Douglas from six yards out in the 89th minute.

The win lifts United into the top half of the League One table for the first time, their 15-pount penalty at the start of the season holding them back from a huge lead.

yorkshire post.

its certainly looking good at elland road at the moment , but the longstanding curse that has hovered over elland road for so long and has prevented them from attaining the recognition and success they deserves may still deny leeds. that is why i have learnt to hold back on predictions.

so close , so many times , only to be denied in the final days of the season.

Leeds United keep on rising

By Derick Allsop at Elland Road

Last Updated: 11:04pm BST 06/10/2007

sunday telegraph

Leeds United (0) 1 Yeovil (0) 0

According to Ken Bates, the latest patriarch of Leeds United, the Bentleys, Mercedes and Ferraris will be returning to the club's training ground if the players continue their rate of progress.

Football fans' forumadvertisementOn the evidence of their erratic, often brainless offering for much of this match, the rusty old bangers will be chugging along to Thorp Arch for the foreseeable future.

But then one regime after another at Elland Road has lived in a self-styled dreamland and the way their fortunes are shaping this season they should achieve the reality of promotion to the Championship.

Yet another late goal, this time from substitute Mark de Vries, plundered all three points when they might have been left with none. Eight times they have scored in the last five minutes of matches to sustain their extraordinary rise from minus 15 points to within sight of the play-off places.

If Leeds are promoted, they will surely have to rebuild the team to make a fist of it in the Championship and many of these players will be parking their cars elsewhere.

They were outplayed in the first half, when Yeovil squandered a succession of chances, and even in the second, as they tilted the balance of the contest through sheer desire rather than subtlety, they ought to have conceded a goal to the normally reliable Marcus Stewart.

Leeds' afternoon served to encapsulate the volatile life and times of their manager, Dennis Wise. These past few days alone, he has received an FA charge and a manager of the month award. Yesterday he toed the touchline anxiously, occasionally ranting at one of his players, or an official, or just someone to let off steam. Far from dreaming, he maintains, he sees Leeds' challenge for what it is. "I always wait for the moment when it goes bad," he said. "My first aim is to get us safe. You're always going to get a sticky spell.

"Then we've got to catch the next group. I won't even think or talk about anything more than that. We didn't play at all well in the first half but in the second it was a different game. I told the players at half-time we had to be better and I'd make changes. I did, I brought on two more strikers.

"I do like a gamble. I try to win and put pressure on them. Why not? We win late because we keep going and the players believe they can win. Why not have a go?"

Leeds did have a go in that second half yet should have gone behind when Kevin Betsy squared the ball across the face of goal and Stewart inexplicably shot wide.

Leeds made the most of their luck and eventually forced the winner with their muscular bombardment. Jonathan Douglas delivered the crucial cross in the 89th minute and De Vries, at the far post, looped his header over Romain Larrieu.

Is it true that you are now only 5 or 6 points away from the play-off places?

Thats amazing !!

It would be a fantastic achievement to get into the playoffs given the 15 point deduction. Lets hope that we can maintain the current form throughout the rest of the season.

Cheers,

Rick

If its possible to maintain current form, we don't need to worry about the playoffs.

Cheers
