The Deputy Prime Minister, who also serves as the Transport Minister, has  instructed all agencies to ensure that future plans for building electric train networks outside of Bangkok do not impact important historical sites. This directive follows plans to expand electric rail systems in cities such as  Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phuket, and Phitsanulok, with special focus on Chiang Mai due to its numerous historical landmarks.


The tech giant Google plans to invest $1 billion dollars to build its first data and cloud center here.   


President and Chief Investment Officer of Alphabet and Google, Ruth Porat was welcomed by Prime minister Petongtarn at the Government House yesterday.


The Deputy Finance Minister is urging state agencies to discuss the government's plan to allow casinos in entertainment complexes. The focus will be on tax collection, involving the Customs, Revenues, and Excise departments. Private investors will be allowed to participate, but clear regulations must be established once the bill passes. adding this process may take time.

 

Narcotics officers report they seized more than 380 million methamphetamine, so far this year 2024. An increase of 56 percent over the previous year.


The department also seized more than 4 billion baht's worth of assets acquired through drug money.

 

National park authorities will reopen the famous Maya Bay beach and two others in the  province of Krabi today  after being closed during August and September to help the area rejuvenate and support local coral.  


Maya Bay became famous 23 years ago as the location for the movie "The Beach" starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
