Ohh come on man! foreigners who give monthly stipends to Thai girls and pay sin sod for marriage are buying their wife also. You have probably bought yours as well and use some lame excuse to justify it. -

Thanks but not in my case. Giving up long term and probably leaving Thailand is a doomsday scenario for me. Would of course empty the accounts. -

What Actually Makes You an “Old-Hand” in Asia?
I speak Thai with reasonable proficiency, not fluent. I understand about 50% of what is spoken to me. I retired here at age 65. It's much more difficult to learn a new language at that sort of age. -

SS via Manila - or?
The requirements are a bit different for in/outside the US. As I posted earlier I was able to obtain the IDme log on with passport, social security card and local bank statement with the address here I pondered about using the address in the United States but was unable to come up with the bills with addresses to do so. Moreover, I don't live there, never have any plans to live there and I have no idea how long I will be able to maintain the mailing address there. I'm not going to lose it tomorrow but my friends marriage is rocky. Therefore, I must suck it up and fill out the I'm still alive form annually. I am still in quandary as to whether they should send the payments to us or Thai bank accounts. I'm leaning to the US because then I can take advantage of the better exchange rates when they avail themselves. Probably pay far less in transfer fees as well. -
