A police sergeant lost his life in a fatal crash after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck on October 19. The incident occurred in the Nong No village area, Nam Kham Sub-district, Mueang District, Si Sa Ket Province.

At 07:05 Police Captain Yonyupa Lannon, an investigator from the Mueang Si Sa Ket Police Station, received a report of a collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck, with a fatality at the scene. Upon arrival, officers, along with local rescue teams, discovered the wreckage on a road connecting Nong No and Nam Kham villages.

At the scene, a bronze Toyota Vigo pickup truck with license plate from Si Sa Ket was found with damage to its front left side, parked in the middle of the road. Not far away lay the wreckage of a black-and-red Honda motorcycle, without a license plate, completely destroyed. Nearby, the body of 51-year-old Police Sergeant Vechaporn Samdaeng, from Mueang Si Sa Ket Police Station, was discovered. He had suffered multiple broken limbs and a severe head wound. Scattered around him were bags of food, evidence that he had been purchasing groceries.

The driver of the pickup truck, 41-year-old Apivat Narnngam, recounted that he was driving his mother to the market in Si Sa Ket City when he noticed the motorcycle swerving erratically and approaching at high speed. Despite attempting to swerve to avoid a collision, he was unable to prevent the accident.

Local residents described the deceased officer as well-known and beloved in the community. He was known for his kind nature and regularly helped villagers with traffic control during busy times. They noted that he often rode his motorcycle to buy food in the area and typically drove at a safe speed.

While the pickup driver’s account was taken, police are continuing their investigation. Preliminary alcohol tests on the driver came back negative. Authorities are collecting further evidence to determine the exact cause of the accident.
