Manhunt Underway for Drug Gang Member Who Fired at Police During Escape

A manhunt is underway for a drug gang member who fired five shots at police to clear a path for escape after being cornered by authorities. The suspect remains at large after hiding, while his accomplice was arrested with 160,000 methamphetamine pills and 1 kilogram of crystal meth found in his car’s trunk.

 

The incident occurred at approximately 22:30 on October 22. Pol. Col. Rangsarn Sonsing, superintendent of Sai Mai Police Station, along with Pol. Lt. Col. Sanchai Keerirat, deputy superintendent, and Pol. Lt. Col. Wutthichai Boonyoo, led a team to apprehend the suspects.

 

The arrested suspect, identified as 37-year-old Wutthisak Tancharoen, was captured after a dramatic pursuit in Sai Mai district, Bangkok. The gang opened fire at police officers in an attempt to flee when their vehicle was flagged for inspection in Soi Sai Mai 57. The car, carrying two men, tried to evade capture, and one suspect fired five shots at pursuing officers from the vehicle’s window.

 

The chase continued to Soi Sai Mai 10, where police successfully blocked the vehicle. One suspect was apprehended, but the other managed to flee into a nearby alley. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities uncovered 160,000 methamphetamine pills and 1 kilogram of crystal methamphetamine hidden in the trunk.

 

The fugitive is described as small in stature, bald, and wearing a short-sleeved black shirt and shorts. He is armed with a revolver, which has heightened concerns among police. Authorities have set up a perimeter in the area and are using drones to assist in the search. Tactical measures are being employed, starting with minimal force, but escalating if necessary, as the suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

 

The police remain determined to capture the fugitive and prevent any potential violence.
