It amazes me how blindly naïve a population can be, Biden is a dottery old man unfit to hold the position and his current VP despite not being old is no better choice, maybe worse!  She has changed many of the Dems policies just to get elected and once in office it will be back to the status quo and the US will sink further than it already has!!

Biden ran and was basically unopposed out of respect for an incumbency of what democrats at least consider a successful first term.

Then last minute he withdraws.

No, in this instance, having a new primary was literally impossible.

They could have come up with an alternative to that with delegates (rather than voters in states) to fight things out in a few days.

The democrats decided not to do that for quite good reasons which you may or may not agree with.

All delegates had the choice to not vote for Harris for the nomination, yet almost all did.

Installed is the wrong word.

She was overwhelmingly chosen by elected (by primary votes) delegates to be the nominee in the historically difficult situation of a nominee exiting so late in the process. If you're saying that democratic (or republican) delegates are party activists, of course they are! 

 

What I find super stupid of critiques such as yours is implication that there is some kind of constitutionally mandated process for how parties are to choose their nominees. There is no such thing. They are separate from actual elections.

 

The primary system with the two major parties (nothing about parties in the constitution) didn't begin fully until after World War 2!

If there had been some kind of open process so late in the game (there could have been) it would have been a massive risk for the democrats to nominate a candidate in an environment of internal bitter division. Democrats were not willing to take that risk. The stakes are too high.

 I would agree in most cases if the guy had a heart attack or died. BUT the issue is that everyone knew that Joe's mental function was slipping.  They had to know that it was possible he would not be able to handle it.  

 

Again possible.

 

Therefore, the smart thing would have been for them to run the primary open and let people decide not to close it so that no one could run and/or at least get their name recognition.

 

Also, remember there was supposedly a backroom discussion before the primary as to whether they were going to replace Kamala because they were not sure she was a strong enough candidate or backup if something happened.

 

As to running hey the GOP and all the candidates knew that Donald was the heir apparent and had a HUGE swathe of voters for the primary but they still let it go unopposed

 

Yes, it is water under the bridge now, but I am sure that there will be a lot of discussions about what, how and who after Kamala has lost. If it has not started already.
