Police from Mueang Loei Police Station in Loei Province received a report early morning on December 8, of a deceased person found in a drainage pipe in Fak Na Village, Na An Subdistrict, Mueang Loei District. Upon being notified, authorities coordinated with doctors from Loei Hospital and Sawang Kiri Tham Rescue Foundation to investigate the scene.

The deceased was identified as a man, lying face down in water inside a two metre deep square drainage pipe, with a cycle on top of his body. Rescue workers retrieved the body from the pipe.

An initial examination by medical personnel found no signs of physical injuries or evidence of assault. It was determined that the individual had drown and been deceased for approximately two days.

Investigations revealed the deceased as Mr. Rattapong Wirattiya, whose age was not disclosed. He had been reported missing on December 6, along with his bicycle.

Preliminary findings suggest that Mr. Rattapong fell into the uncovered drain pipe while cycling, leaving him unable to escape and causing him to drown. A local resident later discovered the body and promptly informed the police.

The body has been sent to Loei Hospital for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.

I suspect foul play.

I find it difficult to believe that a cyclist would fall into that hole with his bike following him…

RIP to friends and family.
