The Royal Thai Navy has initiated an official inquiry after a group of sailors allegedly assaulted a man in Sattahip, leaving him with injuries that required 11 stitches. The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over loud drinking behaviour. The Navy has affirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward violence and pledged to care for the injured party.

At approximately 09:00 on December 9, Admiral Pasukree Wilairak, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Navy, addressed the situation, confirming that the injured man had filed a complaint with the Sattahip Police Station. The victim accused on-duty guards from the Sattahip Naval Base of attacking him, resulting in a deep laceration on his forehead and multiple bruises on his body. Medical staff at Sattahip Hospital determined the injuries required 11 stitches.

According to the Navy’s initial investigation, the incident occurred around 23:55 on December 8. Senior Petty Officer First Class Surayut Khunthongpan, 59, was on duty as assistant commander of the naval base guard post when he and two other guards encountered a group of young men drinking and causing a disturbance near the Apakorn Kiattiwong Hospital, an area under the Navy’s jurisdiction.

While most of the group complied when asked to lower the noise, some individuals resisted and became confrontational, allegedly attempting to assault Petty Officer Surayut. A bystander intervened to de-escalate the situation, but a scuffle ensued, leaving both the resisting individuals and the intervening bystanders injured. The matter was subsequently reported to the police.

Admiral Pasukree stated that the commander of Petty Officer Surayut’s unit has ordered the formation of a fact-finding committee to thoroughly investigate the incident. The Navy reiterated that it does not condone any form of violence and emphasised its commitment to supporting the injured individual during their recovery.

Noise complaints?? Thee is here a temple which has several parties the temple is located 2,5 km from my house The last 2 dyas, as many times before I hardly can watch TV as the music is so loudly as it seems the boxes are opposite my house.. Complaining will not help not even from people around that temple and the RTP is doing as usual not their job... I wish i would live near that temple as I want to go and talk to the abbot and if he did not do anything about it ( which is strange as a temple and the monks have to meditate) I think with a few molotov cocktails and and baseball batts I would end it with a group of other village men..

No wonder that people sometimes shoot because of the noise.. Thai people are so ignorant about others...It seems they take care of their community, but in fact it are all a..h...s

Selfishness is one of the cornerstones of Thai society.

Me, Me, and more Me.

Nothing will ever change.  :coffee1:

Sounds like a fair result to  me!

Yeah.  People with authority told a group making noise to stop, they started a fight, and ended up worse off.  Now they want to complain.  They should have done as asked and not stated a fight.  Hopefully the chap who intervened has leaned his lesson.

It sounded like the article was going to be a groups of sailors beating someone up for asking them to keep it down.
