Firefighters, some of whom had only just returned from a two-day battle against a forest fire on Khao Krathing, were thrust into action again in the early hours of January 20. At 03:30, a fire broke out at a naval housing complex in Bang Saray subdistrict, triggering an immediate multi-agency response.

The blaze ravaged a two-storey townhouse structure used as government accommodation for naval officers stationed at the Royal Thai Navy’s Recruit Training Centre. Five interconnected units sustained extensive damage as the flames rapidly spread through the tightly packed houses.

Firefighting teams from Bang Saray Municipality, Khet Udomsak Subdistrict Municipality, Kled Kaew Municipality, Sattahip Municipality, and the Naval Training Centre mobilised quickly. Multiple fire engines and dozens of personnel worked together to tackle the inferno.

The firefighters battled the blaze for two gruelling hours before successfully bringing it under control, preventing it from spreading to neighbouring buildings. While no injuries or fatalities were reported, the fire caused significant property losses for the affected residents.

Authorities are now investigating the cause of the fire and working to determine the total extent of the damage. Local officials have stepped in to provide support and temporary housing for those displaced by the incident.
