Thai woman arrested for allegedly conspiring in sister’s murder
Photo via KomChadLuek By Petch Petpailin Police arrested a Thai woman for allegedly conspiring with her husband to murder her sister in November last year at a house in the central province of Pathum Thani. The woman denied all allegations, despite her husband having previously been arrested in connection with the death. The death of the Deputy Secretary of the Khlong Sam Sub-district Office in Pathum Thani, 57 year old Worrakanok Thepphimon, was reported on November 8 last year. She was found lying naked with multiple stab wounds across her body and a deep cut to her throat. Channel 8 interviewed Worrakanok’s sister, 51 year old Bongkot Kaewklom, who denied any knowledge of the murder. She told the media that she had heard her sister screaming at about 9.20pm. She rushed to check on her sister and found that she had already died. Bongkot reportedly lived with her husband, 43 year old Pratin, in a house located only 10 metres away from Worrakanok’s home. Police later arrested Pratin on November 11 after knives stained with Worrakanok’s blood were found in the storage compartment of his motorcycle. Despite her husband’s arrest, Bongkot remained a free person, as no evidence initially linked her to the murder. Crucial evidence undisclosed After more than two months of investigation, police arrested Bongkot at her home yesterday, January 29. Officers confirmed that they had crucial evidence indicating that Bongkot conspired with her husband to kill her biological sister but they could not yet disclose the details to the public. During police interrogation, Bongkot insisted on her innocence. “I deny the accusation. This can happen when an innocent person becomes a suspect. It’s possible.” Worrakanok’s son told Channel 8 that he had always suspected his aunt and had lived in fear with her since his mother’s death. He never expected that his aunt would be involved in his mother’s murder but Bongkot had failed to answer many of his questions since the incident. The son added that he felt relieved and safe following Bongkot’s arrest. He expressed confidence in the police investigation and believed that officers had sufficient evidence to justify her arrest. Further investigations into the case will continue, as Bongkot has denied the charges. She remains innocent until a court delivers its verdict. Source: The Thaiger -- 2025-01-30 -
