Thai police are investigating the discovery of a corpse covered with a fertiliser sack and plastic bags in a wooded area near a highway.

Authorities in Huai Yai, have launched an investigation after a decomposed body was found dumped in a forested area off Highway 331 (Sattahip – Chachoengsao). The remains were covered with a fertiliser sack and plastic bags, and police have yet to confirm the victim’s gender.

On 4 March, Police Lieutenant Nevin Suntavanik, an investigator from Huai Yai Police Station, was notified about the body near kilometre marker 25+400 in Pong subdistrict, Bang Lamung district. Officers, along with forensic investigators and rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation, were immediately dispatched to the scene.

The body was located approximately 50 metres from the main road, inside a grove of acacia trees. It was in an advanced state of decomposition, suggesting the victim had been dead for several days. Nearby, police also found a pile of discarded electrical wire casings, with the copper stripped away, raising suspicions that the area might have been used for illegal wire scrapping.

Police cordoned off the area and called in Chonburi Forensic Police Division 2 to assist with the investigation.

A cassava farm owner, who first discovered the body, has been taken in for questioning at Huai Yai Police Station as part of the inquiry. Investigators are now working to determine the victim’s identity and cause of death.

A woman and her son have been arrested for the brutal murder of her husband, whose body was found dumped in a forest in Chonburi province. The victim’s sister revealed she had long suspected the wife’s involvement.

The Pattaya Provincial Court  issued arrest warrants for Ms Rattikarn (46) and her son, Mr Worayut (30), and they confessed to killing Mr Watchara (52), the woman’s husband.

Authorities discovered the victim’s body in a patch of acacia forest near kilometre marker 25/100-200 along the inbound road to Sattahip, Pong Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. The body had been concealed under a fertiliser sack in an attempt to cover up the crime.

The victim’s elder sister, Ms Sudjai (54), travelled from Ratchaburi province to give her statement to the police. She revealed that she had suspected her sister-in-law from the moment she heard about the case.

“When the police called me about my brother’s death, I immediately felt something was wrong,” she said. “His wife showed no shock or distress. Then, when I saw the note found near his body, I knew it wasn’t my brother’s handwriting.”

Ms Sudjai further disclosed that her brother had always been devoted to his wife and her son. He worked tirelessly and handed over all his earnings to support them.

“Our family had warned him before, but he refused to listen. Now, he has paid the ultimate price,” she said. “I will never forgive them, and I want the police to ensure they face the full force of the law.”

The police continue their investigation, with both suspects facing serious charges related to murder and evidence tampering.
