Advice on updating ID (Passport) number on Thai driving license and car's blue book

I plan on doing this at the main Land Transport Department near Chatuchak in Bangkok. I have a relatively new passport (w retirement visa) and need to (should) update the DL and my car's blue book with the PP number. I no longer have the old PP, but have a photocopy of it.

Anyone who's done this recently, could you tell me which building (4?) and which desks to go to?

I have:

  • Newish PP with retirement visa - one year
  • TM30
  • Certificate of Residence (same as TM30)
  • Valid Thai DL
  • Car's blue book with tax not due til August
  • Cash to pay for changes (nominal I guess?)
  • Photocopies of all
  • Anything else?

Grateful for any advice by those who've gone through the process.

Cheers

R.

There's no need to update the Passport number in your Driving License.

There has been a thread on this before (last year I think) and the answers all fall on the general consensus of "Farang think too mutt" ....

Your existing driving licence still has your Name, DOB, Photo - there is doubt its registered to you. I'm not sure why someone would 'want' to bother switching.

Thanks for sharing the thread. I hadn't seen that, but read it all. Actually, I side with (many of) those who think it's a good idea to get it done (fin my case, it's or the blue book as well as the license). So that's what I'll do - also my address has changed, still same province, and there are 10 months left on the current license so I can get nearly 6 years if I go do it now.

So, again, anyone who has done it recently at the Chatuchak LTD, please tell me which building and which counter(s) you went to?

Txs.
