A case of animal cruelty has emerged in Nakhon Ratchasima, where 17 dogs were found dead after being poisoned. The incident has sparked outrage among animal lovers and prompted military authorities to take swift action.

 

The Volunteer Animal Lovers Club Facebook page first reported the incident on April 2nd, sharing heartbreaking images of six dogs lying dead inside Development Unit 2 at Surathampitak Camp. Later updates confirmed that a total of 17 dogs had been poisoned.

 

 

The poisoning reportedly occurred on the evening of April 1st, following an incident in which a stray dog attacked a goat within Artillery Battalion 23, Artillery Regiment 6, resulting in the dog’s death. The following day, the remaining dogs within Development Unit 2 were found dead, leading to suspicions of deliberate poisoning.

 

Lieutenant General Boonsin Padklang, Commander of the 2nd Army Region, has ordered a formal investigation and instructed officials to file legal complaints against those responsible. The perpetrators will face charges under Thailand’s Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, which classifies the offence as a criminal act.

 

Authorities have vowed to bring those responsible to justice, emphasising that animal cruelty is a crime. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Killing for meat in atrocious meat processing plants, cock fighting, capturing fish and birds for making a merit, cruel transportation of animals, especially pigs and the country littered with millions of diseased dog pests never seem to be a problem though.

I think who ever did this made the community a favor, they where stray dogs/killer dogs, we need more of these people in Thailand, 17 less now good work.

That is sad.

Where I live friends have all got dogs and they are walked on leashes.

However, two of the dogs have been poisoned by inconsiderate people leaving poison at the side of the road to do exactly what you describe.

Nothing to stop a kid from picking up the poisoned food and eating it either.

Poison does not discriminate who or what it kills.

That is down to people like you.

Soi dogs are not pets, they are vermin

This happens all over Thailand. They're supposed love for animals is a farce. After they pass puppy and kitten stage, they're left to roam, breeding, and those offspring aren't taken care of besides the actual animal lovers who care. I've lost a number of animals here in the village to some scumbag that poisons them for no reason, as the ones here have homes they stay at. Animal cruelty is one step from human cruelty and many go from one to another easily, as their respect for life doesn't exist. Those who just want all dogs dead are very disturbed people, although they pass to others as humans until they are found out. There aren't any excuses for these kind as they are anti social from childhood. Animals that bite people and those that are sick or diseased should be put down, but that's the minority. It's against the law to poison animals here, but the care for life here is virtually non existent, so not much is ever done. They have to be caught in the act and dealt with, one way or another.

Outrage at killing stray dogs, but what do they do to help these animals? The overwhelming majority do NOTHING. When they want a dog they buy overpriced pedigrees. If they care so much why are there any strays at all?

 

These dogs act feral, wild because they are and that's all they know. What excuse do the natives have?

 

This is a country where animal cruelty and human rights abuses are rife.
