Thai Airways Places Major Boeing Order to Expand Fleet

Thai Airways is set to modernise and expand its fleet by acquiring 45 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, boosting its total aircraft from 85 to 116 by 2027 and targeting 150 by 2033. CEO Chai Eamsiri says the deal, finalised at the Singapore Airshow, supports both the airline’s growth and Thailand’s strategy to ease the US trade deficit by importing American products. Deliveries begin in 2027, with advanced GEnx engines powering the jets. THAI will also lease or hire-purchase 35 more aircraft to improve financial efficiency and flexibility in response to global market demands.
