Anti-woke Texan who moved to Russia sent to the front

A Texas father who uprooted his family from the United States to Russia has unexpectedly been sent to the front lines of the war with Ukraine, despite having little military experience.

The family relocated using Russia’s “shared values” visa program, which targets foreigners who reject what President Vladimir Putin describes as “destructive neoliberal ideology.”

Initially, Derek agreed to join the Russian military in a non-combat role. He expected to start as a welder and eventually work his way up to become a war correspondent. However, despite having no prior military experience and limited Russian language skills, Derek was deployed “near” the front line in the ongoing conflict with Ukraine.

DeaAnna Huffman, Derek's wife, added Derek only received minimal training, all in Russian.

“Unfortunately, when you’re taught in a different language, and you don’t understand the language, how are you really getting taught?” she asked rhetorically. “You’re not. So, unfortunately, he feels like he’s being thrown to the wolves right now, and he’s kind of having to lean on faith, and that’s what we’re all doing.”

He's likely already fertilizing a Ukrainian field. In any case, I feel sympathy for his kids for drawing bad parent luck but he basically asked for this.

I have a strange hobby of watching pro Putin western youtubers living in Russia. Those deluded sleazeballs consider that moron a brave hero and patriot of Russia. They conveniently never mention the whole point of the Russia SMO is to erase Ukraine. This particular American may have thought he was only going to be repairing trucks but even if that, he would be repairing trucks to help murder Ukrainian civilians.

Well, he'll be Swiss soon.

Swiss cheese.

His FOMO got the better of him.

Wonder if he's still alive.

Can't believe I'm the first to post "sum num na."

So this idiot would rather live in a society where the secret police will be spying  on you constantly, and criticism of Putin or the war in Ukraine draws a prison sentence. That takes a special kind of stupid.

Maybe he DID criticize Putin hence his place in this battle.

This story is 2 months old, nothing on their YouTube page says he is fighting on the front line.

Just another load of msm nonsense for the steeple.

Nice one.

Look over there. How original.

AFAIK the NSA has no interest in me, or any reason to be.

OTOH, paranoia, lies and secrecy have been part of the Russian psyche for a century. Remember Chernobyl?

Lol, you really believe these stats? Do you really think people feel free to post what they think in Russia?

Isnt a UK MPs wife in prison for what she said online regarding illegal migration ?

I always say there are certain survival skills that are required to thrive in this world, and moving to Russia, one of the most horrific and destitute nations on earth, is not one of them.

Sorry the pedant in me. Not for what she said as UK still has free speech. For what she posted on line.

Has always been thus. You can say what you like but if you put it in writing it maybe libelous.

Poor Darwin, had he known that he was going to be the brunt of jokes for generations to come, he'd done something about it then.
