Where Can I Buy Electric Outlets

Featured Replies

I was told today by my builder in Korat that they have to order from the U.S. ground fault outlets Im not 100% sure but I think that I can find them in the kingdom , somewhere. If anyone can please direct me to a electric supply co. or someplase I would be thankful. After reading some of the horror stories here about electric I feel I should at least have them installed in the bathrooms , if not the whole house.

Thanks ,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Yes, should not be a problem to get them in the kingdom. I am also building right now, and my electrician installs all grounded outlets. I do not know were you are, but seek for a "homepro" store or large electrical supplier in nearest town. However, I have to change pluges and add ground to most of my electrical supply before I move in, as most things I bought here is non grounded. :o

I've never seen a ground fault outlet used in Thailand (not a simple grounded outlet which are common). You should check with a store that handles higher-end merchandise like Home Pro but don't be surprised if this item has to be ordered from abroad in the end.

Okay, my mistake, I am so sorry! :o To say that grounded outlets are common in Thailand is however not very correct! :D

Thanks everyone,

I checked the Homepro website but had no luck . I will have to send someone in there and ask. I would'nt mind if I could find in Bangkok as I have family there also. It's not easy for me Im in the states now .

I have not seen the outlet type for sale here but you can obtain whole house type in Safe-T-Cut name and several others at any decent electrical store including Home Pro. You can also obtain breaker panels with this protection from ClipSal and other companies. This is better if you have a large home as you it limits the voltage cut to the panel involved so makes it easier to find bad item.

You can get the Safe-T-Cut unit to add to and existing 2 wire system.

Any major electrical supplier will have them.

There are also Main Outlet boxes with the unit fitted.

I have a 3 phase box in my house.

Quite surprising/alarming how often individual circuits will trip,

or even the main switch.

I had some guys fitting a steel starcase and their welder kept on tripping the breaker. After I complained they tapped straight into the meter in the street!!

Don't import the stuff from USA. They use 110V
