I think we have all done it at one time or another - searched the 'net for our name. Just type in your first and last names and note down how many references there are, do the same for your nickname and then add them up. If you were given more than one forename, use the one that you commonly use.

it depends on the search engine you use, the search string you use. For example do you search for "John Doe" with quotation mark or without. It makes big difference. Anyway I use Google and:

with quotation marks: 174,000

without: 2,370,000 (yes my name is that popular)

nickname: 3,550
