August 11, 200718 yr Hi, I plan to be in my parents home in a Shenghen country next October (I do not live there) for some 2-3 weeks holiday. I will bring a Thai friend with me who will have a multi entry Shenghen visa (and a Japan short visit visa) I have a permanant resident permit of stay for Japan in my Shenghen country passport I have also a 1year retirement permit of stay for Thailand in my UK passport I spend most of my time in Japan but will switch to Thailand very soon We woudl like to go for a week-end to London with the Eurostar. I suppose he will need a visa and it will be better/mandatory to apply for it in Bangkok. I have not made any firm bookings (I plan to go depending on the weather, etc) neither for the train nor for any accomodation, we probably will use some B&B near the station. Does he have a chance to get a short term tourist visa in those conditions ? Steady job up to June 2006 and again (same job) from December 1 (6 months unpaid leave but doing part time jobs for the moment) Some stamps in passport (Singapore/Indonesia) but no used visas Shenghen visa + Japan visa to be used in October November next Some fund in bank account I can guarantee (as I did for the other 2 visas) that I will pay all cost Fully reserved air tickets Bangkok-Tokyo-Paris-Tokyo-Bangkok Guarantee of accomodation in Belgium by my parents Medical travel insurance for the whole trip Anything else ? Should I use my Shenghen or UK nationality to apply for his UK visa ? Thanks in advance for your input
August 11, 200718 yr As your friend already has visas for Japan and the Schengen countries, I don't see what problems he could have getting a UK visa. He should apply at the British embassy in Bangkok and you may present your self as either British or your other nationality. You might also care to wrtite a covering letter in which you broadly outline the purpose of the trip etc. Scouse.

As my friend does not have enough income or bank balance for the trip, I will have to write a letter of support to guarantee the travel and accomodation expenses as I have done for the other 2 visas. Would the UK embassy be more enclined to trust my word if I presented myself as British rather any other nationality ? The proof of means would be based in Japan (bank statements, income documents). My permanent visa is in my Non-UK passport and I would prefer to use that one.
August 11, 200718 yr There's no harm in telling them that you're a dual national and provide copies of both of your passports. Alternatively, just provide a copy of your European passport which contains your residence permit for Japan. Scouse.
