cm das
Apologies for this not being strictly "Thailand" related. The gf & I are planning a short trip to Sipsongpanna in Yunnan province in Oct. I hear a lot from Thai friends about how this area is a kind of cultural homeland for Thais & I know that there are substantial numbers of Tai speaking people there. But, being in the PRC, I wonder how much of the Tai culture is really evident there? Has anyone been to Sipsongpanna (Jinghong is about all we'll have time to see)? Have any comments on the Tai/Chinese feel of the place? Is it true that my gf, born & raised in Chiang Mai, can use her northern Thai to communicate with locals there? Thanks for any replies. ai kwaan
Up for this thread. I've been hearing the same things from the wifey this is where they (the Tai, Thai people) came from... very beautiful countryside, as she says.
