The Royal Courts of Justice in London is removing the Banksy mural from its wall. The mural, which appeared on Monday, depicted a protester with a blood-spattered placard and a judge with a gavel. Recognised as Banksy's work on Instagram, it's being erased due to the building's protected status.

The mural has been covered since its discovery, and the HM Courts & Tribunals Service stated its removal was necessary to preserve the listed character of the Queen's Building. This artwork is interpreted by some as a reaction to the arrest of Palestine Action supporters, following the group's classification as a terrorist organisation in July. Banksy, known for his politically charged art, had previously showcased works in Gaza and created The Walled Off Hotel in Bethlehem.

The artwork emerged shortly after the Lady Chief Justice expressed concerns about threats to judicial safety amid growing criticism. The Metropolitan Police are investigating the mural's criminal damage. Banksy’s works often critique government policies and societal issues, reflecting his edgy, provocative style.

Moving forward, the controversy surrounding this mural adds to Banksy's reputation for stirring debate through his art. The removal process looks set to conclude swiftly, given the building's historical significance. Banksy’s works continue to capture attention, proving art’s powerful role in social commentary.

They celebrate him until he exposes them.

The UK judiciary do indeed have blood on their hands.

Peter Lynch for one.

Fine. Do it on your property. The fact remains that it was unsolicited and was vandalism of a heritage building. Using your logic, space on the Tate Galley exterior wall should be given to those who wish to advertise for Reform, or space on the wall at Buckingham Palace can be used to promote a campaign to create a fourth gender.

The reality is that there is no longer a "Banksy" doing this. It is a group of people. Gullible people like you gravitate to the graffiti  and celebrate it, when it really is nothing more than a political caricature. Because you share the same  political view, you deem it acceptable.

Good.  Should not be allowed to paint on any private building without permission.

The building is listed as historic and significant. Should have preserved Banksy's mural on the building, adding to it's history. 🙂

I just had an idea  Banksy should have done his art on a large

"future board"  plastic  sheet and then  shot riveted , glued ,duct tapped

it to the "listed building"  it would have then been easy to remove and still existing for the quick thinking removal artist  worth millions perhaps ?

They should have sent a crew in to cut it out.  They could have sold it for enough to pay for the wall repair, with enough left over to fund 100 needy families for a year.  But they wanted it gone.  Right now.  It was an embarrassment to them.

Yes It certainly was..and they should be embarrassed too..free speech,

civil rights, freedom to assemble  online and  in person  all eroding/disappearing at an alarming rate.

I guess you don't understand the laws around listings.
