Trump Dismisses Rumours of Imminent Strikes on Venezuela

US President Donald Trump has denied claims of planning imminent military strikes inside Venezuela. During a trip to Florida, journalists aboard Air Force One asked Trump about reports of a decision to attack Venezuelan military sites. Trump stated clearly, "No," emphasising that no such decision had been made.

The speculation stemmed from a report by the Miami Herald, suggesting the Trump administration had resolved to launch attacks on Venezuela imminently. However, Trump refuted these claims when pressed further, reiterating, "No, it’s not true." This follows previous threats made by the President about using land strikes against Venezuela, notably in response to alleged drug trafficking activities in the Caribbean.

Recent weeks have seen an escalation in rhetoric from Trump regarding Venezuelan operations, particularly related to the US military's campaign against drug boats. On 16 October, Trump declared intentions to "stop them by land," indicating possible military action, which fuelled further speculation about US plans in the region.

Experts have expressed concerns about potential military engagement with Venezuela, warning of geopolitical impacts and humanitarian consequences. Analysts suggest that while the President's statements could be part of a broader strategy to pressure the Venezuelan government, any actual military operation would likely involve significant risks and international reaction.

Looking forward, it remains uncertain how Trump's recent comments will affect US-Venezuelan relations. Observers are keenly watching for further developments or official announcements from the administration. Until then, the region continues to brace for any shifts in US policy amid ongoing tensions.

Key Takeaways

  • Trump denies claims of planned military strikes in Venezuela.
  • Past threats against Venezuelan operations have intensified speculation.
  • The situation remains uncertain with potential significant geopolitical impacts.

Trump making sounds is meaningless watch the deeds and deployments therin lies the tale.

It is quite possible that he was not telling the truth - I mean it is not exactly unprecedented, and his lips were moving!

Since when did a politician or a property developer say one  thing and mean  something else ?

Just like he did on iran bombing ??

The modern day answer to the sneak attack on pearl harbour..

As usual, all you "experts" on here are not seeing the forest for the trees.

Lost in your haze of pointless accusations.

He cares about the drug problem and he's doing sth about it. That counts for nothing?

What else should we be focusing on? His yellow tie?

Venezuela doesn't produce fentanyl, and it's not even one on  the main cocaine producers, which are Colombia, Peru and Brazil.

That would serve them right! Hugo Chavez should not have conspired with Dominion to rig the 2020 election! 🤣

drugs pass through venzuela.

but it seems it's not only about drugs, but about the president. i don't know the full story on that president or why they don't like him and if going after him is even justified and how much of it is about drugs or if it's mostly about the president.

but it gets a bit more complex because they are accusing the president of being part of the drug trafficking.

Venezuela does not produce large quantities of cocaine - that's mainly Colombia, Peru and Bolivia. There is some cocaine trafficked through Venezuela, which its own government claims it is cracking down on.

The US has not detailed its evidence of Maduro leading a drug trafficking organisation. Maduro has repeatedly denied the accusations,

It is no secret that the US administration, particularly Secretary of State Marco Rubio, would like to see Maduro toppled.

Donald Trump campaigned against regime change in 2016, pledging to "stop racing to topple foreign regimes", and more recently has condemned engaging in "forever wars."

The US does not recognise Maduro as the president of Venezuela. The outcome of the last election in 2024 was disputed and the way the election was conducted was widely dismissed internationally, and by the opposition in Venezuela, as neither free nor fair.

The current regime in Venezuela is a disaster. I guess Rubio is against it because it reminds him of Cuba, which may be his next target.

There are several reasons for convincing Trump to attack Venezuela.

- it's a "revolutionary" Socialist regime,

- it is involved in drug trade, albeit not one of the main producer, so it makes it easier to sell to the US public opinion,

- it has vast oil reserves,

- it was part of the big lie conspiracy theory,

- on top of it, Trump is supported by the last Nobel prize winner.

Some MAGAs may object to it, but most of them will ultimately "follow the party line", as they did about the Epstein file.

That Dominion rigged the 2020 election. It was claimed that Hugo Chavez created the company.

It was also claimed that that the “massive influence of communist money through Venezuela, Cuba, and likely China” is the reason why Joe Biden won.
