November 10, 2025Nov 10 I just returned to Chiang Mai from Seoul. Very crowded plane as they don't fly every day and tons of Chinese tourists. I didn't really see any easy visaDTAC line so just hopped into one with a couple of other foreign passport tourists. My wife is Thai so went through the return within a minute or two so she came to my line on the other side of the immigration officer checking incoming foreigners. Another IO saw my wife standing there and told her to go outside that area so she asked him about LTR easy entry, He directed her to stand outside that area and looked at me raised his thumb and ran back inside their area and then came back in less than minute, came to the back of the line looked at my DTAV and passport and then went to the IO checking folks in my line and I was stamped and let through so waited less than 10 minutes so no real problem. He said if I had an problems with the LTR and anyone then I could receive help immediately with the CM immigration office or the immigration folks at the airport and he welcomed me here! What I am asking, if anyone does have experience of entering Thailand in CM airport if there is an "easy" lane like that for aircrew, diplomats or whatever? Any advice would be great though I didn't really have a problem. One exit, I was stopped by the first IO who took me to the senior IO and it appeared that there was a problem. Since I do speak Thai, I asked if there was any problem with the LTR visa and he said no but then he wrote into the passport on the LTR page and mentioned to another IO that I had done my yearly report as required and that what perplexed them was that I hadn't done any travel outside Thailand for so many straight years and they asked why? I said because my family is Thai. Then he said if upon return the IO looks perplexed, then just have them check page 11 of my p/p where he said he updated their computer on my LTR of my yearly visit but I had the form in my P/P of that update anyway so no problems.
