Trump decides to sign a bill to release the files rather than risk very embarrassing defeat. It was a rare moment of retreat for a president who has made a habit of bending Washington to his will since returning to office. And it came after the White House privately tried and failed last week to pressure a handful of Republican lawmakers to abandon their support for the measure, and days after Trump attacked those defectors as “soft and foolish.”

 

"The Democrats are trying to bring up the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax again,” the president wrote in one post on Truth Social. “Only a very bad, or stupid, Republicans would fall into that trap.”

 

Just 48 hours before flipping his stance on the Epstein files, Trump attacked Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene in bitterly personal terms over her strident support for the House measure, withdrawing his endorsement and labeling the Georgia Republican a “traitor.”

"All I want is I want for people to recognize a great job that I’ve done on pricing, on affordability,” he said. “I don’t want to take it away from really the greatness of what the Republican Party has accomplished.”

 

And now he's trying to pass a huge hoax and lie about pricing in America and affordability, pretending as if he's making America affordable. Only in his delusional dreams. Prices just keep rising.

The ridiculously lopsided vote to release the files was a huge humiliation for Trump, who wrongly spent months demeaning and bemoaning anyone and everyone who asked for those files to be released.

As expected from Trump and the senate, there is some fine print in the legislation’s language that allows for some Epstein files to be withheld. And the announcement of a new investigation into Epstein’s contacts raises real questions about how the Trump administration will respond.

In addition to allowing DOJ to withhold information related to active investigations, there are other permitted with holdings. They include personal identifiable information of victims or other disclosures that would constitute an invasion of privacy. Also exempted is anything depicting child sexual abuse, death or physical abuse.
