A viral video showing a Thai man allegedly abusing a dog by using compressed air has sparked outrage and demands for stricter animal abuse laws. The suspect, identified as Wate, claims the incident is outdated, explaining he was merely drying the dog’s fur. The video, initially shared on Facebook, captures Wate kicking the dog and inserting a hose into its mouth or anus.

The distressing footage was captured by a neighbor in Lampang province’s Sop Prap district. This neighbor claimed there were originally three dogs at Wate's residence but expressed suspicion that two have died, allegedly as a result of his actions. Hoping for intervention, the footage was shared to prompt an official investigation into the alleged abuse.

Police visited Wate’s home to address the incident and verify claims. While Wate acknowledged past incidents, he denied ongoing abuse, attributing any noise from the dogs to playful behavior. Authorities confirmed Wate’s mental health struggles, evidenced by medication in his home, but found no illegal substances or weapons.

Law enforcement has issued a warning to Wate, without pressing charges. They emphasized that further complaints would result in removing the animals and potential legal consequences. Neighboring residents, however, remain skeptical, believing the abuse to be recent despite Wate's defenses, The Thaiger.
