Featured Replies

When Professor Miniscule tries to contact Captain Fact and his dog Knowledge in the Insectopod by intercom he radios:

ยานอินเซกโทพอดทราบแล้วเปลี่ยน ยานอินเซกโทพอดทราบแล้วเปลี่ยน - Come in Insectopod!

How do you explain the use of

(from Captain Fact's Creepy-Crawly Adventure)

What I understand, it's the word to use for radio communication.

I am not quite sure about how to use. If anyone can explain pls help

Thanks for this question. It's make my day more enjoyable

as I used to play ทราบแล้วเปลี่ยน with my friends when I was young and it's fun to

think about it. :o

So เปลี่ยน is used in the sense of (change) 'over' (to you)?

OK, makes more sense now except ทราบแล้ว is being used to raise the Insectopod as in 'come in'.

ทราบแล้ว seems to be translate more like 'roger' (i.e received you)

I agree that sounds more logical. Perhaps the translator of the text did not have the distinctions clear to him-/herself... or "ทราบแล้ว" is short for 'hai saab laeow' i.e. 'for your information'...

Just speculation though.

^^ Yes, that's how I understand it ทราบแล้ว is equivalent to 'roger' and เปลี่ยน is 'over'. 'Come in' in this sense is (I think) riak (sorry no Thai fonts on this computer).

So "roger over " = ทราบแล้วเปลี่ยน?

Okay, we've got "roger" and "over" ...

what about "out!" ? ("out!" terminates a dialogue in radio communication)

btw, posts like these make my day! Very interesting. Thanks!

Had to check with my wife on this (who confessed that her knowledge only comes from watching crappy soaps) - apparently it's
