Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor will not receive any compensation when he vacates Royal Lodge in Windsor, according to a Public Accounts Committee report. Under his lease agreement, he could have claimed £488,000 (approx. 21.3 million thai baht) for surrendering the 75-year lease early. However, the Crown Estate has indicated that the property’s dilapidated state means no payout will be made.

The Committee, led by Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, plans to investigate the Crown Estate’s dealings with royal leases. The inquiry will begin next year to scrutinise property leases involving the Royal Family. It remains uncertain if Mr Mountbatten-Windsor will testify.

Andrew had notified the Crown Estate of his departure on 30 October, the day he lost his titles. Although he provided a year’s notice, he is expected to move to Sandringham in Norfolk early next year. The fact that he still has a lease for a staff member on a portion of his old house in Berkshire's Sunninghill Park is noteworthy.

Andrew’s financial arrangements for Royal Lodge have been under scrutiny, with MPs concerned about taxpayer interests. He secured a 75-year lease in 2003, paying over £8.5 million up-front (about 370 million thai baht) for renovations, avoiding annual rent. A clause allowed for a partial rebate if vacating early, but this was contingent on property maintenance.

The Crown Estate considers the terms of Andrew’s lease as “fair and reasonable” and aligned with market practices. The report also touches upon Forest Lodge, the Prince and Princess of Wales's new home in Windsor, leased on a 20-year term with an open market rent.

Pressure on Andrew, intensified by the Epstein scandal and loss of titles, prompted his move. The situation, nicknamed the Siege of Royal Lodge, saw King Charles halting financial support, effectively leading to Andrew’s relocation plans. Calls have also come from US Congress for Andrew to testify regarding Epstein, yet he has not responded within the deadline, reported the BBC.

Key Takeaways

  • Andrew will not receive a payout when leaving Royal Lodge due to needed repairs.
  • An inquiry into royal leases will be conducted by the Public Accounts Committee.
  • Andrew is expected to relocate to Sandringham, Norfolk early next year.

But will he miss a hot meal

This site likes to post photos of rentals gone bad and places left like a sty. Could we get some photos of how Randy Andy left his digs?

Maybe Andy will move into Frogmore Cottage, as vacant, since Chuck threw Harry & Meghan out, even though it was gifted to them by the Queen as a wedding gift.   Thanks dad :cheesy:

Wonder why Harry doesn't get along with dad any more :coffee1:

Probably because Harry threw dirt at him and the rest of the family for 6 years.

^^ that's a funny statement, makes me laugh in whatever context

I think the offer for Frogmore is no longer on the table. Frogmore is owned by the Crown (not Charles who owns Sandringham ) and they want him out of Windsor.

Charles does seem to have problems getting on with most of his family.

Diana, Harry, Andrew ....... All betrayed, abandoned, defunded and deserted.

It'll be like X formerly known as Twitter. Andrew blah blah blah blah formerly known as Prince andrew

for quite a while.

Still could be better than what previous members of the royal family had to go through. Henry the Eighth didn't muck around.

Frogmore is owned by The Crown Estate which is controlled by the King.

There's just two that he doesn't get on with, Harry and Andrew.  Diana was not abandoned or deserted, they separated prior to the divorce and she sure as sht wasn't defunded.

I'm not sure that is accurate. Seems the King does not control the Crown Estate ,,,

From your link...

"The Crown Estate is owned by the Monarch “in right of the Crown”. This means that while the King owns the estate during his reign..."

Hi Lou.

Why did you not quote the whole paragraph?

The Crown Estate is owned by the Monarch “in right of the Crown”. This means that while the King owns the estate during his reign, it is not his private property and he does not manage or make decisions about its assets.

The way I read it is that the King does not control the Crown Estate.

So he will become a remittance man, or they'll cut his finances altogether?

If they cut his $$$ he'll probably resort to doing product endorsements etc.  Or maybe worse . . .
