January 3Jan 3 Cambodia has reported a record-breaking year for cashew exports, earning 1.5 billion US dollars in 2025 – a 30 percent increase compared with the previous year. The Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC) confirmed that the country shipped one million tons of raw cashews, marking a 27 percent rise in volume.Almost all of the harvest was exported to neighbouring Vietnam, underscoring the close trade ties between the two countries. CAC president Uon Silot described 2025 as “a good year for cashew nut farmers”, noting that both export volumes and prices had climbed significantly. The annual harvest season runs from March to April, when prices ranged between 1,250 and 1,350 dollars per ton. By October, demand had pushed the price to around 2,000 dollars per ton, giving farmers a welcome boost.Cashew has emerged as one of Cambodia’s most promising cash crops, alongside rice, rubber, cassava, palm oil, bananas, mangoes, longans and pepper. The CAC estimates that cashew trees now cover roughly 700,000 hectares across ten provinces, reflecting the crop’s growing importance to the national economy. The surge in exports highlights Cambodia’s expanding role in regional agriculture and its reliance on Vietnam as a key market. For farmers, the strong performance offers both financial stability and encouragement to continue investing in cashew cultivation. As global demand for nuts continues to rise, Cambodia’s cashew industry is positioning itself as a vital contributor to the country’s agricultural future. The challenge ahead will be to sustain growth while exploring opportunities to process more of the crop domestically, adding value before export.-2026-01-04 ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français ThaiVisa, it's also in French
