THAILAND - Thai Airways has proudly received its first Airbus A321neo, which signals an important milestone for the airline’s short-haul, regional expansion plans, starting from January 22, 2026. This new aircraft, named "Bowonrangsi," is part of a fleet of 32 A321neo planes set to join Thai Airways, with the first ten being leased from AerCap. The airline aims to enhance regional connectivity and improve its presence in Asia-Pacific markets.

The delivery of A321NEO represents Thai Airways' efforts to modernise its fleet and prioritise sustainable aviation practices. The aircraft is equipped with advanced technology that reduces fuel consumption and carbon emissions by up to 20% per seat. CEO Chai Eamsiri highlighted the aircraft’s capacity to use sustainable aviation fuel, aligning with the airline's eco-friendly initiatives.

The A321neo’s cabin design offers 175 seats, including 16 premium Royal Silk Class seats with fully flat beds, and 159 economy seats. Passengers will enjoy 4K touchscreen entertainment, Bluetooth connectivity, and Airspace XL storage with 40% more capacity. This new addition will debut on the Bangkok–Singapore route on January 22, reported the Bangkok Post.

They bought those planes over 5 years ago and they are just now starting to be delivered. The waiting time for new aircraft keeps getting longer.

Well, Trump's gonna put a 200% tarif on Airbus.

While Boeing's are dropping put of the sky.

Airbus faces a high demand. The drawback of high quality...

Good choice.

Why have "flat beds" on a short to medium haul aircraft?

Really? What Boeings are dropping out of the sky?

The tariffs will not impact TG's leasing of aircraft.

Truly, a stupid comment. The Airbus and Boeng safety records are similar.

Because there is demand for the option. TG is eliminating First Class. The lie flat coffin space is an attempt to fill the void. It is also about versatility. The aircraft can be used on regional routes such as BKK-DEL. This article gives an explanation.

Thai’s A321neo Turns Short Hops Into Lie-Flat Plays - Tra...

Thai’s Airbus A321 neo puts sixteen lie-flat seats on Bangkok–Singapore, then points to longer India routes where premium comfort finally makes real sense.

The A321 neo has a range of over 6,000kms. And the LR variant can do up to 7,400kms. Many airlines are using them for semi long haul routes. So it gives TG that flexibility and also sets it apart from regional competitors - it makes a lot of sense.
