Prince Harry to Skip Meeting King Charles on UK Trip

Prince Harry will visit the UK to give evidence in a legal case against the publisher of the Daily Mail, but he is not expected to meet King Charles. The Duke of Sussex's appearance comes amid a civil lawsuit alleging that Associated Newspapers engaged in unlawful information gathering, alongside other plaintiffs like Sir Elton John and Liz Hurley. Harry's visit will concentrate on the court proceedings, slated for later in January, despite previous attempts to reconcile.

In September, Prince Harry and King Charles had a private meeting in London, which many saw as a move towards mending family ties. The reunion followed Harry’s public expression of his desire for family reconciliation in an interview with the BBC. However, this visit shows no signs of continuing that progress, as the King is likely to remain uninvolved during the legal process.

The legal battle arises from accusations that affiliated newspapers gathered stories through illicit means, which they have dismissed as "preposterous." Earlier, a similar case against Mirror newspapers saw Prince Harry visiting the UK without meeting his father. Another lawsuit against News Group Newspapers was settled in January 2025, with an apology and damages awarded to Harry and others.

A potential breakthrough in future visits could result from a review of Prince Harry's police protection while in the UK. Security concerns have previously been a significant obstacle for Harry, especially regarding visits with his children. Although a security upgrade might ease his concerns, no final decision has been announced, reported the BBC.

Key Takeaways

  • Prince Harry won't meet King Charles during his UK trip for a court case.

  • The Duke joins other celebrities in alleging unlawful data gathering by Associated Newspapers.

  • Harry's police protection review might alleviate security worries on future UK visits.

Not for visits to the UK.

He just needs to ask in advance and then it will be granted. Harry considers this an affront, so he is throwing his toys out of the pram. I sincerely hope his security case is rejected and him and his vocal fried, valley girl wife never visit the UK again.

Harry has not understood basics of Great Britain's monarchy and how it works but yeah, yet another example of how the last 40 years sent this institution down the shoots as well.

It's just Family stuff. Charles is a busy man but if he were my father and I wanted to drop in I would phone his secretary and ask what is a good time to visit.

Easy stuff if the Family relationship is normal.

Its a simple solution. Strip the titles from the bad eggs like Andrew, Harry and Rachel Markle and support the likes of Zara and Mike Tindell.

Its like a corporation if you allow the bad ones to stay without supprting the good ones the culture becomes toxic and eventually it fails.

William knows this. We just have to wait.
