Furniiture Store In Surin - Can You Recommmmend 1?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I was curious if someone could tell me if there is a used furniture store in Surin? I was just in Pattaya not long ago and I saw numerous used furniture stores there and I was curious if anyone knew of a similar place in Surin. I need to buy a livingroom set and considering my fiancee and I need to totally furnish our house, I was thinking a used livingroom set might be a good start especially were we have kids in the house all the time. I did check in BKK about 10 weeks ago, but even for just a couch, the prices were foolish but then again, it was BKK too. I did look at Big C when I was in Surin but they didn't have anything and considering every piece of furniture they sell is particleboard anyway, buying a couch from them wouldn't last long anyway. If someone knows of a good reliable furniture store in Surin too, that would be great as well. I just don't want to waste my time by roaming all over Surin looking for furniture stores if someone can recommend a great one. I saw some really nice "NEW" loveseats in Pattaya for 3500 - 4000baht but getting it Surin was going to be the issue...hahaha.

I did ask my fiancee if she had any idea about places and she had no idea, so she's not any help. So of course, when I need a question answered I go to where I always get good advice.....HERE!

Thanks for any advice you can give me and have a GREAT week,

Nhscotsman

To answer your question, there are no 'great ones' in Surin and I am not aware of any second-hand furniture stores either. There is an Index store on the way out of town towards Sihkoraphum and just before the ring-road. Nearly opposite Index is a furniture shop that sells wooden furniture; not to everyone's taste but furniture that should last a life time. In town, there is a Concept furniture shop and within walking distance of the Farang Connection. I am sure Martin will point you in the right direction if you call in for a beer or two. You will find one or two other shops scattered around town but the best selection is the Concept Shop near the Farang Connection. Quite honestly, Surin is limited for choice and you would have to travel much further afield to Korat or Bangkok to find better. :o

So if someone wants to buy a couch or some livingroom furniture they get it from Korat or all the way from BKK? Seems like a huge pain in the butt. No wonder my fiancee doesn't have a couch in her house. I bought a bed in Prasat at one of these little furniture shops, but they had no livingroom furniture.....all wooden stuff. Which is like what you're mentioning. I could have gotten that stuff at Big C.

When I get to Surin on Sept. 14th, I owe Martin a beer anyway for answering numerous questions for me in the past. Plus, he's giving me a ride to Prasat to surprise my fiancee, she doesn't know I'm coming early from the USA, she thinks I'm coming at the end of the month.

I appreciate any info though....THANKS!

PM me when you get to town and if you've got a motorbike or whatnot I'm willing to give you the furniture shop tour of Surin. There are several options in town and on the outskirts. I know where most are because we've been furnishing our house recently as well. Index has good deals and decent quality. I think Concept is a notch under. There are others that concentrate solely on the lacquered wood look.

Hi,

That sounds great........My fiancee has a motorbike and a friend has a pickup so I'm sure we could do something. I just need to buy something to sit on other than sitting on a tile floor everytime I come home. I bought a bed the last time I was there in May and I had too, I just couldn't take the "Mat" they sleep on more than one night. I think the sleeping may was a form of torture Thai's developed to make the locals people thankful for daylight hours....haha

Anyway, as a westerner, some things just need to be changed for my comfort level.....hahaha. A sit down toilet, electricity that doesn't involve extention cords being drapped across the driveway coming from Grandmama's house, a TV in our house (versus next door for the whole family to watch) and some place to sit while watching the TV that involves cushions...haha.

I will send you a message in a few weeks, thanks for the offer, it's VERY much appreciated.
